Let him lose some weight.
spoil sport ping
Robby Gordon is a pussy, he has always been, and always will be a pussy. I hope she leaves him in her dust
And here all along, I thought having a much heavier right foot was good.
Passing Gordon some cheese ................... to go along with his whine.
Personally, I'd like to see a well qualified woman win the race. Imagine how they would handle the Victory Kiss LOL.
And what about skill, nerve, courage, luck, weather?
I forsee Weigh-In day for races in the future.
This is a joke, right?
sounds a lot like another Gordon...
Just shut the hell up and race there nancy boy.
Try to win a rece, not make excuses before hand.
Danica came from Formula Atlantic. Last time I checked the FCS section of the SCCA GCR (surely all racing experts know that THAT is) FA required a minimum weight WITH driver. Danica did very well when weight was NOT a factor. While Robby Gordon *IS* a whiner (and the sour grapes might have as much to do with with being jealous of Tom Kendall)
The praise in here is really backhanded. Just as with Affirmative Action, if Danica wins, people will be able to say "well, it's because she weighed less". That's a disservice to not only Danica's racing talent, but all small drivers who went before her. Jim Clark didn't need that advantage and neither does she. A truer "weight advantage" in racing is being able to put ballast closer to the CG of the car. The fact that anyone is making a big about this now, as opposed to when that Fisher brat showed up, says that there is alot more respect for Danicas driving talent.
As to all the variants of the "just shut up and drive" comments. RG couldn't do that as the Indy 500 start time was moved to create a scheduling conflict with the NASCAR race, thereby preventing any NASCAR regulars from entering.
I wonder if he wants to put asterisks beside all the drag racing victories of Shirley Muldowney?
kwitcher cryin', robby... just because you'n tony are on an all-u-can-eat diet doesn't mean danica has to follow suit ... tony actually use to be fairly thin until he left the irl and went rasslin' toe-to-toe with the boys down south
boo hoo hoo...
Robby Gordon has always been a jack@$$
someone needs to tell him to shut up and go cause some more wrecks in NASCAR....
I truly don't understand this guys complaint. Haven't racers been competing for years even tho some weighed more than others? Has body weight ever been an issue in auto racing? Excuse my ignorance but I thought car racing was different from horse racing.
Crybaby indeed
(Denny Crane: "Sometimes you can only look for answers from God and failing that... and Fox News".)
Maybe, but anyone who has gone on a road trip with women knows you stop more often for the chicks to pee than if the car is loaded with guys.
Well then let the market run it's course. In a few years, if Mr. Whiner is correct, the majority of drivers will be sleek, petit women and men the size of jockeys. Either that or let's create a Federal Department of Size Equilization for Racing Sports (aka FDSERS). Something like that shouldn't be too expensive.
If this was really an issue, Economic Darwinism would take over and auto racers would look like horse racing jockeys.
Gordon is a whiner.
All the same, I'm willing to help out.
Here ya go, Robby...

I'm all for giving her a shot.
But I hate this crap. The freakin world doesn't revolve around Danica.
She will not win. The big Boys will push her up against the wall and she'll wet her pants - end of story.

She can drive my car, any time!
bump for more pics
Yeah, I don't like that Shaq is a foot taller than me either.
She's got a cute face, she dresses like a slut on occasion (evidenced by the images above), but it's a hell of a slap-in-the-face to Guthrie, St.James, and Fisher to imply, what? - that THEY were only f'ing-around out there and Patrick is the first woman hoped to win? And in all the injterviews I've seen/heard her do, neither has she said anything to imply otherwise.
After seeing all this sh_t on there about her (some of it from her own mouth here at 15 minutes into the show), I can genuinely hope she craps-out early and doesn't get hurt doing it.
I'll read the results after it's over.

Maybe he can get Michael Moore to sit on her lap!
Actually, I thought this is like Horse Jockeys being so small...so the horse is not weighed down. If you're a jockey thats 200 lbs., your horse is going to be carrying more & needs more muscle for the race.
While I agree he's whining, he's got a point.
Apparently very few posters on this thread have ever competed in auto racing. I used to drag race and my car ran very consistant times in the 1/4. When my buddy got in it, it ran consistantly 1.5 tenths faster. I'd get the car into the last few heats, he'd hop in and we'd get into the money. The difference was he was a good 70 pounds lighter. Small change we're talking here, we'd win 50-75 dollars, but it was beer and food money.

If any of you have read the April 2005 issue of Motor Trend, they had an article in there about how racers cheat the tech inspectors. One of the most notorious cheats was the fact teams realized NASCAR didn't do weight inspections after the race and Darrell Waltrip's team devised an ingenious scheme where they would build fake radios, water bottles and helmets that would be installed in the car before tech inspection, then substitute the real thing before the race. The result was saving something like 150 pounds of weight off the race car at the beginning of the race, so instead of a NASCAR racer weighing the around 3,700 pounds (the required minimum) the race car's real weight was 3,550 pounds! That type of weight savings even on a heavy NASCAR race car translates into 3-4 miles per hour improvements in speed, not to mention better fuel consumption and lower tire wear! Now you know why NASCAR tech inspectors are very stringent in terms of minimum weight, even requiring cars driven by smaller stature drivers to put on additional dead weight for competitive purposes.
In the case of Danica Patrick, the fact she only weighs just over 100 pounds--compared to the weight of other IRL drivers that weigh maybe 35-60 pounds more--gives her a substantial advantage, especially considering that the minimum weight of an IRL race car is only 1,525 pounds! Saving 35-60 pounds in this case can translate into faster speeds and lower fuel consumption rather easily; I wouldn't be surprised that the IRL may impose a weight equivalent rule to reduce the advantages of very light drivers.
