Nearly a dozen detainees at the Guantanamo Bay military prison in Cuba told FBI interrogators that guards had mistreated copies of the Koran, including one who said in 2002 that guards "flushed a Koran in the toilet," according to new FBI documents released today.
The summaries of FBI interviews, obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union as part of an ongoing lawsuit, also include allegations that the Koran was kicked, thrown to the floor and withheld as punishment and that guards mocked Muslim prisoners during prayers.
The release of the new FBI documents comes in the wake of an international uproar over a now-retracted story by Newsweek magazine, which reported that an internal military report had confirmed that a Koran was flushed down a toilet. The retracted story has been linked by the Bush administration to deadly riots overseas.

Amrit Singh, an ACLU attorney, said in a press release that "the United States' own documents show that it has known of numerous allegations of Koran desecration for a significant period of time."
"The failure to address these allegations in a timely manner raises grave questions regarding the extent to which such desecration was authorized by high-ranking U.S. officials in the first place," Singh said.

BWAHAHAHA. Can't put the toothpaste back in the tube, WaPo.
Hmmm....more documents just in the nick of time.
So now a Koran is a sentient being? What did they do, put panties on its head?
Wow, and to think they believe these American hating turds. Of course they are going to make accusations. They are going to say anything they can to incite violence against their enemy. Why in the world would the FBI allow this information out? And why can't the ACLU work for Americans and not terrorists?
perhaps this will force the administration to issue a blunt message - any reports like this coming from detainees, their lawyers, or the "relief" agencies at Gitmo, should be assumed to be lies. Period.
Good, now they loose any shred of credibility they had too.
Presto! Majesto! ... turn them into "new FBI documents". |
Can we just have a flush in?
The enemy within knows no boundaries.
One day they will pay....big time.

What did they desecrate that day?
The Washington Post doesn't want Newsweek to be the only Old Media to cause riots and protests against America.
Who cares? Christians are beheaded in the country of the Koran fanatics for being Christians.
I'm getting so sick and tired of these thin-skinned, anti-American liberals in New York and DC.
I will continue to apply my considerable mental powers in transmitting bad thoughts their way in hope they meet some horrible, horrible demise.
Their lack of faith disturbs me! ;-)
More powerful than my intended reply.
What about "Separation of Church and State" from the ACLU. I thought the government should have no respect for any religion because if it does then it is in danger of becoming a theocracy. Sorry, but gaurds doing anything TO A BOOK is not news. It's not even intimidating. Can you see the Muslims now... "oh don't take my Koran, don't drop that pleae, I'll tell you whatever you want...." Yeah right.
I am outraged! Wait. No I'm not. I'm outraged any news organization is reporting this AS NEWS (regardless of whether it's true or not)
The Commies down at the aCLU would be celebrating if the terrorists had flushed a bible down the toilet. The scumbags at the Arab Civil Liberties Unions do not deserve to live in this country.
LYING Headlines and articles.
Most articles carefully leave out that it was ONLY the word of some detainees AND that it was a DETAINEE who put the Koran into the toilet and claimed the guards did. THIS is what's in the FBI file, yet all articles make is sound, as if there were evidence found by the FBI, that the guards did it.
"VanNatta recounted that in 2002, the inmates suddenly started yelling that the guards had thrown a Qur'an on or near an Asian-style squat toilet. The guards found an inmate who admitted that he had dropped his Qur'an near his toilet. According to VanNatta, the inmate then was taken cell to cell to explain this to other detainees to quell the unrest. But the incident could partly account for the multiple allegations among detainees, including one by a released British detainee in a lawsuit that claims that guards flushed Qur'ans down toilets. "

Well, in the Holy Bible, there is the story of the apostle Paul in Ephesus. When people were preached the truth about Jesus, they brought all of their books that pertained to 'curious arts' and burned them.
My suggestion is: take any of the MSM publications to your nearest livestock confinement/feedlot and offer those items to the herdsman as bedding/absorbant.
As for the book in question: If I come across one, I shall have a private burning. I'm not going to stir up hostilities by a public display.
Muslims behead people with bibles- Saudis as matter of policies destroys all bibles they find. The koran is a freakin' book- and it seems not to be religion of peace- flush 'em all!!!
You owe me a new monitor after that line. :)
Paging Registered...do you take requests. :-)
"Nearly a dozen members of Free Republic posted on the Internet that they had seen the editors of the Washing Post having sex with sheep."
Our job here is to call them on their lies. Gosh, I bet they really hate the internet.
LOL !!
"And why can't the ACLU work for Americans and not terrorists?"
Because they were founded by a Marxist and bent on the destruction of the United States. They favor anything that paints America as negative and/or failing.
You missed it:
"Separation of Church and State"
And the headline needs to read:
Memo reports Washington Post reporters having sex with sheep.
Shamelessly 'stolen' and reworded from a Reuters headline,
Sarcasm does not become you.
Were they really founded by a Marxist. Who was that? I really have little knowledge of it's founding.
Oops that should have been editors.
Guess I need one.
Could it be true that you are lurking?
Was that the original title of the article? It seems to lend credence to the charges. Did a former guard make the charge? Did an FBI agent make the charge? No, but the title leaves it open.
The title on the linked WaPo story is now "Inmates Alleged Koran Abuse." The has a lot less credibility than the the previous version.
Because I think you're full of it. I've read your forum threads. It is my opinion that you are here just to cause trouble.
After working years in the intelligence field...I can certify that everyone and their brother "borrows" reports upon reports upon reports...and regenerates them. When you dig down, there is nothing new...its just the same report you read two months ago, but with a new slant. My bet is that the FBI simply took a report from someone else and refined it...and when the Washington Post digs this whole thing out...they will suddenly become quiet.
It is my unscientific opinion that he/she is full of it.
That was the original title of the article (online). Now if I can remember how to pull up the page from my temporary files, I could save it. I think I have to be offline to do that... hmmm, until I figure it out I won't go to the WP again or I'll lose the old view.
"Were they really founded by a Marxist. Who was that? I really have little knowledge of it's founding."
"I am for socialism, disarmament, and ultimately for abolishing the State itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion. I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal."
Roger Baldwin, founder of the American Civil Liberties Union.
Quoted in the National Federation for Decency Journal, September 1988. Page 9.

I like it, but the sentence that identifies the accusers should be buried in the story, maybe on the jump page. The title of the front page story should be:
WaPo Editors Accused of Sheep Sex Abuse
Or better yet:
WaPo Editors Exploiting Sheep for Sexual Pleasure!!
ACLU to Defend Sheep in Sexual Harassment Suit.

I don't know about "ACLU to Defend Sheep in Sexual Harassment Suit."
ACLU would be torn. They like to represent sex harassment plaintiffs, but ACLU likes to promote perverts more. (See, among other cases, their representation of NAMBLA, a group of child molestors who like to swap tips about molesting.)
The ACLU would likely turn their defense of the WaPo editors into a campaign against our bestophobic, narrow-minded, bigoted, and judgmental bias against those who engage in bestiality.
Your probably right, and it would insult the sheep to be defended by such as well.
