McCain/Kennedy Expected to Unveil New Guestworker/Amnesty Legislation
FAIR ^ | May 16, 2005 | Staff

Posted on 05/16/2005 5:26:41 PM PDT by yoe

On May 12, Senators John McCain (R-AZ) and Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and Representatives Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) and Jeff Flake (R-AZ) introduced companion guestworker amnesty bills, S. 1033 and H.R. 2330.

The text of this legislation is not yet available, but here's what we've learned this legislation entails.

Millions of currently resident illegal aliens would be permitted to buy guestworker status for a fee of $1,000. After the first three year term they could apply for three year extensions (for another $1000), and in the meantime, apply for green cards. After six years they would be eligible for permanent residency, which could ultimately lead to full U.S. citizenship.

New foreign workers would be permitted to buy three year renewable visas for $500, provided they can find an employer that will hire them. They too could apply for green cards after three years, and ultimately U.S. citizenship.

This bill creates a new H-5A visa category which permits 400,000 new guestworkers each year.

Nothing in the legislation prevents employers from continuing to hire illegal aliens. In fact, the sponsors of this legislation recently stated that they didn't think employers should be punished for hiring illegal workers.

Selling citizenship to illegal aliens and new foreign workers is NOT a legitimate immigration policy.

Once the details of this legislation become clearer we will update you further and request your assistance in opposing this outrageous guestworker amnesty by sending free faxes through our website to your legislators expressing strong opposition to S.1033 and H.R.2330.

No one that I know of has ever accused John McCain of being overly bright however his teaming up with the vitriolic, virulent anti-American Ted Kennedy is very telling of this AZ. politician. I wouldn't trust anything he signed his name to, especially after the CFR fiasco. President Bush has been stung by these two before, perhaps this time he will veto their bill if it ever reaches his desk. But rather than hold my breath, I will let my President know just how I feel, please do the same.

When any of you get a copy of the 'bill', please post it on FR.

It is so sad that an American hero like McLame would lend his good name to feces like this. I guess his time in POW status was very hard on him. No Republican has anything to do with a man who can not get a whore across a bridge. I myself from this point on refuse to accept McLame as a Republican. The rest of you can do what you want.

The bill proposes two new visa classifications, the H5A & H5B.

Those already in the country will be converted to H5B visa holders. The H5A will cover future guest workers. The quota on H5A is 400,000 per year with a possible additional 80,000.

I can't imagine this bill would make it to the president--at least I hope not---

I love the part that said that they don't think employers should be penalized for hiring illegals--THAT would be about the ONLY thing, short of a 20 ft tall 4ft thick brick wall, that would stop illegals from coming over here from now on,...

Besides, they are asking these people to pay $500 dollars, what a joke, we spend SO much more for their social services that it is ridiculous...

This is a stupid, stupid bill--and doesn't deserve any time on the house or senate schedule.

Representatives Jim Kolbe (R-AZ) and Jeff Flake (R-AZ)

Two RINO's who just signed their walking papers in the State of Arizona.

Graf will beat the crap out of Kolbe over this. And it will stick.

This is an Amnesty, folks. Nothing more. Get out of jail free.

perhaps this time he will veto their bill if it ever reaches his desk.

Has he vetoed anything at all since becoming President? Maybe he's trying to set some sort of record.

When any of you get a copy of the 'bill', please post it on FR.

Will do.

"I love the part that said that they don't think employers should be penalized for hiring illegals"

Never mind that honest businessmen were run out of buisness because they paid taxes and workmans comp. Our laws are ignored and everything is tilted in favor of dishonesty and theft. The people representing us are third world.

This is how it will all go down.

Congressional leadership will keep Kennedy-McCain boxed up, allowing Cornyn-Kyl to be completed and brought to the floor of each house.

If Cornyn-Kyl can pass, Kennedy-McCain dies in committee.

If Cornyn-Kyl fails to pass, Kennedy-McCain will be released and likely will pass.

Down the road it looks like this bill will just be a slick amnesty type of citizenship for millions of Mexicon illegals. If that's what it is, it;s a slam against the rest of the world that plays by the rules.

US citizenship should be allowed to only a few special people from all over the world, not millions from one country just because they were slick enough to break our laws, how stooopid.

With not threat to employment and free health care, what would entice illegals to shell out $1,000 for guest worker status?

Thank you kind freeper!

Here is an example of the kind of congresscritter that will be voting on these really important bills like the immigration bill--

I was watching the House on c-span an hour or so ago, and Rep. Lynn Woolsey of California got up and gave a five minute speech---

I can't remember the whole thing, (not even a blue ribbon winner has THAT good of a memory, LOL), but she started off her speech with the line---"President Bush has let down the Muslim people...", it went on to name all of the Bush's sins in the war on terror--that instead of invading Iraq, we should have "educated" them and forgiven their debts, and used more diplomatic language...

I kid you not---after the stories all weekend about the deaths of people because they thought a BOOK got flused in a toilet---millions of Muslims rioted and a over 15 DIED!

BUT, according to Woolsey, TONIGHT, Bush needs to talk to the Muslims nicer and it is our policies that are at fault.

I kept expecting some brave GOP rep. to stand up and say "Lynn, you ignorant slut...." and tell her to sit her butt down and shut her friggin' mouth!

This is a classic "good guy/bad guy" scenario:

Bad guy--McCain and Kennedy propose a plan that goes against the will of the public.

Good guy--Hillary swoops in to stop the plan and further position herself as the hero of the average American Joe.

It's too obvious for words...

They are filling up there water bottles and packing sandwiches as we read this. I think Ronald Reagan was the best thing that ever happened to the GOP but his amnesty measure sent a clear message to our separated brethren to the south. The first hint of amnesty move!!! Time to call out the national guard that remains and put em on the border.HERE THEY COME!!! count on it.

But, I do agree with your sentiment!!!

I think we should send REPS. like Lynn Woolsey to Iraq, with a white flag, and tell her to go find al-Zarqawi(sp) and "talk diplomatically" to him and offer more "education" for him and his Merry Men!

American citizenship FOR SALE!! Any American politician agreeing to this should be recalled or impeached.

What an INSULT to immigrants who waited their turn and applied legally! Citizenship for sale is the last thing America needs or wants.

In the case of two of these guys, with the businesses who need slaves. McCain comes from a long line of slave holders. Flake will just do anything for money. A grinning, venal moron.

But Kolbe....

I think Jimmy the Gay Blade is just thrilled to see all those manly-men coming over the border. He's thinking, "new boyfriends".

According to the article, there are THREE "Republicans" from Arizona pushing this. Why only focus on McCain? You had your chance to get rid of him in 2004 and nobody ran against him in the primary. Kolbe's far worse than McCain will ever be.

Senators John McCain (R-AZ)
Representatives Jim Kolbe (R-AZ)
Representatives Jeff Flake (R-AZ)

Can someone tell me why all the "R-AZ" officials seem hellbent on turning the state into a D-AZ hellhole? The influx of more and more illegal aliens on welfare has been a boon to the Dems in AZ. Look at the new governor and congressmen. Compare AZ 20 years ago to AZ today.

These "R's" must be stopped before they drag down the rest of the Arizona Republicans down with them.

This is a stupid, stupid bill-

Just another corporate handout. These poor workers who can't survive in their homelands are going to pay up? Meanwhile corporations shouldn't be penalized for hiring illegals???

Whoaaaa....the only thing that's going to stop corporations from hiring invaders is fines and jail time. This bill should be called a Permanent Amnesty for Hirers of Illegals.

grrrr.......Who's running the US anyway? Vincente Fox?
