Soros to announce challenge grant for Baltimore with Mayor Martin O'Malley

When: 11:30 a.m., Thursday, May 12. Where: City Hall, Ceremonial Room, 100 N. Holliday St., Baltimore. Baltimore - Philanthropist George Soros will announce a $10 million challenge grant for the Open Society Institute-Baltimore on Thursday. Soros is asking Baltimore individuals, foundations and corporations to join with him, matching his grant two to one by contributing $20 million so that the Open Society Institute can continue to work on some of the most pressing issues facing the city.

I caught an interview of this guy on NPR the other morning. (I listen because the AM part of my radio doesn't work and the music on the radio sucks).

He said he wants his stupid foundation to be "the conscience of the world." He doesn't want to be the conscience, but he wants a foundation to do it. He just doesn't understand America and Freedom.

Excuse me .. I thought his "open society" was for helping people overseas to come here to study .. what does that have to do with CITY issues ..??

I think this is a GO-AROUND - and what I mean by that: it's been reported that a lot of people are upset by Soros collecting millions of dollars of taxpayer dollars - and then in turn Soros is using those funds to further fun political organizations.

It may be that Soros suspects he may be losing some of his funding and now it's time to make up the difference by deceiving people into believing he's actually trying to help people. People have to be deaf, dumb, blind and just plain stupid to believe that - and Soros' actions prove it.

I think Baltimore is a dump. Its just a step away from the dumps in Philadelphia and New Jersey. The people there are dumb union thugs ruled by a liberal democrat oligarchy/overlords of lawyers ripping off America.

All in in all, Maryland is very pretty state with decent people living in the western hills and the eastern peninsula. Its a shame Baltimore is such a craphole. In fact, I turned down free Orioles tickets tonight since I can't stand to be in Baltimore.

According to the article, Soros picked Baltimore back in 1998. This is new funding for an old project.
