Well first off it's an aircraft carrier, not a battleship. Secondly, in the past 15 years they've built 5 of them with a
6th one coming upSo apparently they're still building them on some sort of assembly line

Yes, you know the Navy likes to carry names down.
USS BATFISH SSN-681 was a fast attack submarine on which my friend served.

Damm, that was a short life for a fast attack. I also have toured the U-505 in chicago. That "boat" was tiny compared to the WWII Batfish. The submariners in the "old" batfish had a lot of room compared to the german sub.

Damm, that was a short life for a fast attack. I've often thought that too.

They made razorblades out of it. It could have been worse. My last ship (USS Hoel DDG-13) is currently being used as a power barge somewhere in South America. To add insult to injury, I've heard that the Wilson is there too.

Wow, great pic, now that's a ship marines like, thanks. Never did get to forward observe (0849) for a battleship always wanted to. Still think we should have kept a couple of Iwoa class battleship in the fleet. Nothing rattles a despot cage like a BB just off thier coast.

The Iowa is still in the reserve fleet, whereas the sister ships are now museums.

Well, technically, all four are decommissioned. But the Iowa would be the easiest to bring back into service, since it is with the reserve fleet.
