ALBANY Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani continues to lead the pack of Republican presidential hopefuls, topping Sen. John McCain of Arizona and Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, his closest rivals, a new poll yesterday showed.
The Marist College national survey found Giuliani running neck-and-neck, 47-46 percent, with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, the leading choice to be the Democratic nominee, in a hypothetical presidential face-off.

Ain't no way he... or McCain are 'gonna get the GOP nomination. I see McCain... maybe Giuliani going the third-party route like Perot in 1992, giving another Clinton the keys to the White House.
nah I dont think so...
at this point, name recognition will give you a lead in just about any poll for 2008....
Giuliani won't go the 3rd party route and I get the feeling McCain won't either, but that would be because of health issues....
WEDNESDAY APRIL 27, 2005MAYOR BLOOMBERG REBOUNDS AGAINST POTENTIAL DEMOCRATIC RIVALS:
In a major turnabout in this years race for New York City mayor, Michael Bloomberg outpaces all of his Democratic contenders. Mayor Bloomberg, who trailed Former Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer just last month, now leads him by 13 points in the race for mayor among New York Citys registered voters. Bloomberg receives the support of 51% of the citys registered voters...
Granted I don't live in NYC, but any poll that has this DOOFUS ahead isn't worth one dead tree...
The reality is that the Republicans are the Big Tent Party, but we actually have core beliefs, unlike the Dems, who are nothing more than a collection of bumper stickers on a 10-year-old Subaru!
RUMMY AND CONDI IN 2008!!!
Yep and Dean led the democrats in the early going until it got to lever pulling time. Then when the rubber met the road things began to change........ these type polls are nothing more than name recognition of national known figures at this time....
"...any poll that has this DOOFUS ahead isn't worth one dead tree..."
Don't be ridiculous darling! Look at his competition! Bloomberg will waltz right into a second term, I have almost no doubt.
First, the point is to get Independent voters and GOP voters for a winning coalition. Second, Dubya, no Jesus Christ he, got votes from Dems-- at least 10% of Dems.
I'd like to see Rudy run against Clintoon's Senate seat but I don't have any say in NY politics and I understand he's not interested.
I hear she may have some legal problems in her future anyway...something about campaign funds?
Semper Fi,
Kelly
Something tells me that the odds are about 1 in a gazillion that we would ever end up with the nominees of both major parties being from the same state. Of course, Hillary is not really from that state, but I still can't imagine the Pubbies nominating anybody for president who is from a BIG BLUE state no matter what they profess to be during the primaries. Just wet dreams of the Democrats and Rockefeller Republicans.
One look at him... his record... tells you all you need to know. Was he 'damaged' in 'Nam? Sure... but it's more than that.
I'll tell you one thing, if he ever gets 'a' prez-nomination and runs in 2008, the MSM will let you know just how nuts he is!
Semper Fi Kelly... semper fi.
Frist would be good, but Jeb would not. I think we need to get another name on there, a family dynasty is never a good thing.
It will be Allen now that Sanford has dropped out. I hope the GOP is smart and doesn't get into a knock down drag out primary. If they were smart they would put Condi on the VP slot.
We like George Allen now... he may very well get the nominaton... but would we accept a McCain or a Guiliani in order to defeat a Hillary?!
Ahhh... it would be a bitter drink to consume... but given the consequence of not drinking...?????
In 2000, mcpain (media) Az, drew 19% in the first "pubbie only" head to head primary against W. After that he was exposed as the fraud he is. FORGET him!
By 2008, it will be Rudy who? and the answer will be :"Rudy the partial birth abortion supporter and gay marriage fan."
FORGET him too.
The beast running for the rats in 2008? We wish. That woman will get creamed and pull down as many other rats as could posibily be pulled down. The only good thing about beast in 08, for the rats, will be that they will hit rock bottom and after that have no place to go but up. Our free ride will be over and we'll have to worry a bit about them again. After all they can't be that stu.... oh well on second thought, forget it all. We'll be running this show for the next 50 years.
I for one, pray they run Hillary. She will be crushed and gone from our life forever. My worry is they put up a moderate from a red state like Breaux or Bayh and have Richardson on the undercard. That would be problematic. Hillary will be a walk in the park no matter who we put up (within reason).
The Dems wouldn't vote for Jesus Christ if he were a Democrat! ("too right wing, too divisive, too religious, too moralistic, too judgemental...").
Isn't he trying to get re-elected in the Senate? If he loses that race, there is almost no way he could win the GOP Presidential nomination, as he would be "damaged goods"...
