Proof that Google is increasingly undergoing preferential linkages to Democrats was discovered this morning. Why is FreeRepublic not linked by Google News, but the "Democratic Underground Website" is? Just curious as to why we don't make 'news', but they do.
If you do a search this morning on Google News on God Darwin Schools, you'll find 'Darwin's Lament', an utterly vapid discourse that is not worth even reading. But I have never seen Google New link to us...
I don't know why -- but I'm going to start going to Yahoo.
Free Republic is Evil... we are Evil...BWaahahahaahaha
With savages, the weak in body or mind are soon eliminated; and those that survive commonly exhibit a vigorous state of health. We civilised men, on the other hand, do our utmost to check the process of elimination; we build asylums for the imbecile, the maimed, and the sick; we institute poor-laws; and our medical men exert their utmost skill to save the life of every one to the last moment. There is reason to believe that vaccination has preserved thousands, who from a weak constitution would formerly have succumbed to small-pox. Thus the weak members of civilised societies propagate their kind. No one who has attended to the breeding of domestic animals will doubt that this must be highly injurious to the race of man. (Charles Darwin, The Descent of Man, 2nd edition, New York, A L. Burt Co., 1874, p. 171)
Google is very good in many aspects, however their "gmail" I don't like, because it uses ActiveX. ActiveX scripting is turned off on my computer, because there are so many spywares on almost any website. Otherwise I like Google. I do not use Google to find the news though. I come here! :)
From a genetic view, he's correct, isn't he? (disclaimer: i got a c in high school biology!)
What if I don't see my favorite news source in Google News?
We're as shocked as you are! If we're missing a publisher that we should be covering, please send us your ideas. While we can't guarantee that we'll heed your recommendation, but we do promise to review all the suggestions we receive without regard to political viewpoint or ideology.
I work for a news organization. Who can answer my questions regarding our news content and the Google News service?
Please contact us. We're pleased to work with individual publishers to ensure their content is appropriately represented in Google News.
I never use google anymore. I'm using www.clusty.com and www.alexa.com. Both are fine search engines. I hope fellow Freepers will post their ideas also.

Excuse me, but the passage you quote from Darwin has exactly the opposite meaning from your interpretation above. Darwin is simply saying that those sub-groups of man facing the most environmental challenges will evolve faster, because the weaker members are killed off. This has ZIP to do with "inferior races"--and indeed has nothing to do with "race" at all, and is a simple statement of "survival of the fittest" as it applies to humanity.
Look Warty, I quoted Darwin exactly - he said "Inferior Races"
Good post HairOfTheDog!

If another search engine company would follow the Fox News "Fair and Balanced" model, I think they could make a bundle of money challenging the Google juggernaut.
I think you're absolutely right. The more light shown on that little nut house of the left, the better.
The problem with Google is that their news generation process don't distinguish between opinion and news. Invariably, you will see an editorial opinion as a headliner in their news section.
One I saw before the 2004 election was particularly twisted to the left. I sent them an email about it. They said, sorry, that's the way our algorithms work. They could easily change their "algorithms" to eliminate editorials from posted news, but, of course, they don't. That tells ya something about who runs the print media.
"I prefer normal people to be logged in here when I check in."
LOL!! Normal people are pretty hard to find ... it sure is what keeps me coming back here!!
Why don't we start our own search engine? Can you imagine the IPO for a conservative search engine?
I don't understand what it is Google isnt doing?
I Googled for Free Republic and get:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Free+Republic&btnG=Google+Search
I have a website www.lilspunkybunny.com if I do a Google search it pulls it up.
So what am I missing here? What are you all referring to?
Here you have updates and Google alerts to sign up for:
http://www.google.com/alerts?q=lilspunkybunny&hl=en
I like that, keeps you informed when Google updates websites.
Someone please enlighten me.
the headline of this thread has nothing to do with reality.
"Darwins Lament" is on their front page. Google searches websites for "Darwin" and it's on DU front page.
If FR put a news article on their front page it also would be "hit" and pulled up as "news"
I do wonder why it popped up third, maybe because it had a picture of Chuck on it with the article.
Someone should mail this to Rush L., he would probably love to report something like this.
LOL G.
Apparently my signing up didn't quite fill the demand.
Go back to the goggle page and hit "sort by date" DU article pops up first.
As Jim Quinn says: "Liberalism generates the exact opposite of its stated intent"
Beware, www.alexa.com uses spyware according to Spybot S&D.
My thoughts exactly. Considering the ignorance and fould language used by those who frequent the DU, they could easily hang themselves. If Google wants to make it easier for them, so be it.
Re-read your own quote. The phrase "inferior races" is nowhere to be found. What Darwin said was "savages", which is a state of social/economic development totally independent of genetic structure and/or skin color.
fould=foul
*scratches head*
I hardly ever use Google anyway. Besides, if a person types in the URL wrong (I'm not aware in what manner though), you get a website that will automatically downloaded viruses and spyware to your computer.
Where in the history of that time has any non-white people group been referred to anything OTHER than savages by the English elite of that time. This is not a slam on Darwin but I have no reason to believe that he was any different than anyone else at that time in history.
HEY! I resemble that remark! 8-)
They use javascript, not activeX
It's a news article on their website. It's a not a thread.
How is old "Staples" Nadler doing these days? Is he now small enough to hide so we don't see him?
If eugenitics is The study of hereditary improvement of the human race by controlled selective breeding, I dont see from your comments where Darwin promoted anything like that. He was merely commenting on how the weak were kept alive to breed by society and the repercussions on our species.
I think someone would have to be brain dead for that to not cross their mind. Maybe he promoted eugenetics elsewhere if you say so, but not in that quote.
Ok- let me see if I have this right. A search engine actually FINDS a web site that contains the words used in the search? AND that site happens to be a liberal message board?
Now YOU have personally declared war upon one of the most useful tools available on the internet for finding info?
I bet they are scared.
This so called "article" and many of the supporting opinions are so divested from reality it is almost amusing.
LOL
Yesterday I was undoubtably placed on a Freeper "black caucus" hit list , and I didn't say anything racist, IMHO anyway.
I wish Jim R. would get us personal "hate meters". That way when the "meter" begins to run into the red zone I could back off.
Seems we have a right to our opinion only if it is generic pap.
Not that I like Google showing a preference to liberals, but do they really think they're helping the cause by exposing more people to DU? Anyone who doesn't recognize right away that the site is full of whack jobs, is already one.
How do you know you were the target of something? Did you ask KP? I think you need to talk to him before assuming the worst. Perhaps he thought enough of you to ping you.
Yes, they are apparently very leftist.
I changed to Clusty. Don't use Google any more.
Better think again. This is not googles web search engine. Its their news search engine and news sites have to be manually added to it. Google added DU a legitimate news site for indexing and hasnt done the same for FR.
Lighten up, Francis.
Either your sarcasm meter is malfunctioning, or you are addressing the wrong poster.
I agree. . . all the more reason to avoid Google. I was trying to find Bill Bennetts website and the FIRST link on Google was to a hate site cursing Bennett as an evil gambler.
That was it for me. . . too bad so many site automatically include this DNC deliverer.
I just looked it up and it's the first website listed. I wonder how it works that way.
