Arrested father had point to make ---- Disputed school's lesson on diversity
Boston Globe ^ | April 29, 2005 | Maria Cramer and Ralph Ranalli

CONCORD -- For David Parker, the first alarm went off in January, when his 5-year-old son came home from his kindergarten class at Lexington's Joseph Estabrook School with a bag of books promoting diversity.

Inside were books about foreign cultures and traditions, along with food recipes. There was also a copy of ''Who's In a Family?" by Robert Skutch, which depicts different kinds of families, including same-sex couples raising children.

The book's contents concerned Parker and prompted him to begin a series of e-mail exchanges with school officials on the subject that culminated in a meeting Wednesday night with Estabrook's principal and district director of instruction. The meeting ended with Parker's arrest after he refused to leave the school, and the Lexington man spent the night in jail.

Yesterday, Parker was arraigned in Concord District Court on one count of trespassing, and a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. Bail was set at $1,000, and Parker was freed after being ordered to stay off Lexington school property. He is due back in court June 1.

Parker and his wife, Tonia, 34, who was also in court yesterday, said the dispute arose because they asked school officials to notify them about classroom discussions about same-sex marriage and what they called other adult themes. They also wanted the option to exclude their boy, now 6, from those talks. .David Parker spoke to reporters yesterday with his wife, Tonia. (Globe Staff Photo / Tom Landers)

I don't want schools teaching my kids about sex. Not heterosexual relationships, not homosexual ones, none of them. Good for him to stand up and say he won't take it anymore!

She looks pissed.

The easy solution (i'm sure it'll pop up here) is home schooling or private school. Unfortunately that my not be an option for them. We need to cut this sort of BS out of the schools that we all pay for. It's reading, writing, and arithmetic. They aren't even taught those, its now Diversity, brainwashing, and liberal agenda promoting.

time to bust out of Boston. Come south, we'll only make fun of your accent for a while, it'll be cheaper, and your kids should be safer...for the next couple of years anyways.

the principal apparently suggested that. Give us the tax dollars and pay EXTRA for us NOT to discuss sex with your child.

The school is trying to do the Bovine excrement that homosexuality is not sexual in nature and thus not subject to the sex ed parental notification.

The reasonable person test would dictate otherwise.

THE SOLE PURPOSE OF HOMOSEXUALITY IS RECREATIONAL SEX WITH MEMBERS OF THE SAME SEX.

The fact they book end the homosexuals around nomal mothers and fathers does not make it any less distasteful that it is about a man stiking his penis in the anus of another man. It is not a subject for CHILDREN.

And now I'll wait to see if the parents of the rest of the kids in that kindergarten class come out to support this man.

I'm not optimistic.

Good for them for speaking up and out on outrageous practices of the public schools.

The school admin. is hopelessly lame, while a decent person goes to jail.

It's infuriating.

Just a note of caution...this is from the Boston Globe, it may be complete fiction.

My fifth grade daughter brought home a letter from school a few weeks ago letting us, the parents, know that a sex education topic was being introduced on a specific day at school. Parents were given the opportunity to view the "lesson" and we were given the CHOICE of opting our child out of the class.

Both my husband and I agreed to opt my daughter out of the class. We were one of a handful of parents to do so.

''We don't view telling a child that there is a family out there with two mommies as teaching about homosexuality, heterosexuality, or any kind of sexuality," he said.

That's an ironic statement from someone trying to teach about diversity. He doesn't understand that someone may have a different view on this subject.

David Parker said he moved his family from New Jersey to Lexington last year after his employer relocated him. He acknowledged yesterday that he and his wife oppose same-sex unions, but they described themselves as Christians

Had to get that in, didn't you, you Globe bastards?

the main homosexual activist group in schools all over America is a group called GLSEN....parents who have children in any public schools very much need to be aware of this group and what they do :

Read about GLSEN here
