U.S. Senator Names Dr. James C. Dobson As the Antichrist (Who knew?)
U.S. Newswire ^ | April 27, 2005 | Christopher Norfleet

Posted on 04/27/2005 2:55:26 PM PDT by quidnunc

Colorado Springs, Colo. – Focus on the Family today dismissed as "overheated rhetoric" and "suspect theology" comments from U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar that the ministry is the "antichrist of the world."

Salazar, a first-term Democrat from Colorado, made the comments during a Tuesday interview with a Colorado Springs television station, in a report reviewing his recent public disagreements with Focus, which has urged Coloradans to question the senator on his support of judicial filibusters.

"In my view," Salazar said of the ministry, whose 1,400 employees he represents, "they are the antichrist of the world."

Tom Minnery, Focus on the Family's vice president of government and public policy, said "this appears to be just the latest example of what is fast becoming a pattern with Sen. Salazar."

"He's using overheated rhetoric to draw attention away from his broken campaign promises," Minnery said. "He told the voters of Colorado, when he was trying to win their votes, that he supported up-or-down votes for judicial nominees; now, he's backing his party's filibusters.

"Our disagreements with him are rooted in the work he is doing in representing the people of our state. His disagreements with us seem to go much deeper than that."

On Sunday, Salazar accused Focus on the Family of organizing a protest of his family's Dairy Queen -- even though the demonstration was actually staged by a Denver church. As for the "antichrist" charge, Minnery said it was barely worth comment.

"Let's just say it's suspect theology," he said. "It seems as though the senator could benefit from studying his Bible a little more thoroughly."

So that guy who the media touted as Mr Moderate Democrat is now running around accusing a political opponent of being the anti-christ. Well, isn't that special.

Oh, note to Colorado, there is no such thing as a moderate Democrat anymore.

Well it is certainly good that we got this great mystery of the ages settled. I guess it should have been obvious all along. After all, the words 'focus' and 'family' both begin with 'F', the sixth letter of the alphabet. And Dobson has six letters. So there you have it-- '666'.

Amazing, isn't it. A republican Senator accepts free time to address citizens, and is lambasted because those citizens are religious, so therefore he must be "injecting religion" into politics.

And here a Democrat Senator uses a biblical reference to pure evil as a label against his political opponents, and not one word against him in the MSM.

More proof the Democrats, despite their market-based posturing, are not conversant in the basic religious sensitivities of the majority of Americans. This cycle could prove to be seminal indeed, with this and with the likes of Howard Dean raising up all manner of Cain. One thing can no longer be said - that Americans have no choice when they vote. Shaping up to be the difference between light and darkness.

I'm kinda curious. If there is an antichrist, does that mean there is also an antichristmas and an anticlaus? Do we celebrate antichrismas by stealing presents and taking them back to the store. Will the post office be open on antichristmas? Will we work overtime?

These things weigh heavily on my mind.

I guarantee you, if Dobson or some Republican had made this same "anti-Christ" charge against a prominent liberal or Democrat, it would generate mocking cartoons and concerned editorials for two weeks. But since it's the other way around, this will go virtually unnoticed.

Dobson and Focus on the Family as the anti-Christ?

Vigorous head scratching...??????

I've read a couple of Dr. Dobson's books, in fact bought "Dare to Discipline" and gave at least three copies to young parents, and listened to him on the radio several times. For someone to say that he or his organization is the "anti-Christ" is so freaking bizarre that no more comment is necesssary.

Here's my letter

Dear Senator;

It was with great dismay that I read your comments calling Focus on the Family "the anti-christ". Many of these so-called anti-christ supporters actually voted for you. You wouldn't have won the state if they hadn't. And now you say we are the ANTI-CHRIST ? You can't just disagree, we must be painted with the broadest, most hateful words possible. We are people, too.

I don't know why I believed your campaign rhetoric that promised to support and up or down vote in the senate; or the lie that you were a conservative Democrat. It seems that you are just like all the rest of the politicians who say one thing to us "stupid voters" and do another when in Washington. I, for one , will not forget your behavior, and I'll continually remind all the conservatives I know who voted for you.

Enjoy your days in Washington, for I don't think they'll be long.

PS Freepers: I did NOT vote for this creep, but I know a lot of conservative Republicans who did. For some reason they did not like Coors.

Liberals get a lot of play to be such a small group. The moonbats are quite skilled in getting themselves into high profile positions and the media does all it can to keep them there.

How they get elected to office seems a mystery until you consider the lies they tell and the dirt they are able to hide, again with media complicity. Good people have to become more politically active to turn the tide and they seem to be doing so, thanks to places like FR.

Yes, we take notice. No, Democrats do not wonder why they are losing because of their success here last year.

Democrats won one US Senate seat, one more US Representative seat, and BOTH houses of the Coloredo legislature. Clearly, we have our work cut out for us. With a bunch of prayers and hard work, we will change the current Colorado politican makeup.

It should also be understood, four millionaire Democrats spent something like $4 million dollars getting their people elected last November. I have no idea how much they will spend to keep them in office, or how much the GOP will spend to defeat them, how much the voters are now dissatisfied to then elect a Republican to replace the bunch of them.
