"Christianity Is My Spritual Home" (Jane Fonda Tells How She Was Saved...)

Jane Fonda talks about how she is 'riveted' by faith and why feminism is what Jesus taught

From her longtime political activism to her Oscar-winning acting, Jane Fonda has never done anything halfheartedly, and she brings this characteristic intensity to her faith. When she talks about "feeling the presence of the Almighty," her view of Jesus, and the way she prays, her voice wells from deep within her chest. You may know this voice from her films (among dozens of others: Barbarella, Klute, On Golden Pond, and currently in theaters, Monster-in-Law), or from her aerobics videos ("feel the burn!"), or from film reels from the sixties, when she spoke out against the Vietnam War. Fonda, now 67, spoke with us recently about her spirituality.

As long as you continue to advocate abortion, you can say anything you want - but those who know, know the truth about you.

The Almighty asks for us to respect life, and honesty, and sexual morality, and truth. He gave us scriptures. He died for our sins.

If you deny life, deny morality, deny the truth taught, then what are you believing in? An idol built in your own image...

Aren't celebrities something! They ARE the last book they read, the last film they saw, the last magazine they picked up, they ARE the thing/s that impressed them last and most! No inner core of belief, understanding, absolutely no spiritual or intellectual ballast to steady them. And the crowning flaw which magnifies all this and turns them from superficial village idiots to dangerous firebrands is that they possess no humility. Lose your humility, and you are prey to any and every fanaticism going. So, since they have a wide audience of people even less able to think for themselves and who are so star struck they believe anything any celebrity says, they are regarded as really relevant political thinkers. Sheesshh...

Actually it's the other way around. Fonda was first. Hillary didn't discover she was religious until 2005.

From the article...

I think feminism is another way of teaching what Jesus taught, that we are all full human beings with the right to have our humanity seen and respected.

Gag me.

She also drops the name of Elaine Pagels, the apostate of "The Gnostic Gospels" fame, as one of her spiritual mentors.

If she is a Christian, I'm from a small planet near Betelgeuse.

Funny. She has the right to express her thoughts on religion and Christianity because of the sacrifice of soldiers like the ones she helped torture in Hanoi. What a B****. Anybody got some Red Man - I need to learn to chew.

You beat me to it. The absolute First Thought that went through my mind was Liberation Theology....

If you want to check up on a real wacko, look at some of the writing by Manning Marable. Noam Chomsky is a weirdo, along with a truckload of other liberal nut jobs. One of the big time Old Money guys (an economist -- name eludes me at this second) is a control-oriented Socialist.

The Left is totally insane. Throw the "anti family" agenda into the mix and you have a really strange world view.

They all worship other "gods"

I am "riveted" by Hanoi Jan's treason. She has a lot of explaining to do for extended stays for some (now ex-) POWs and potentially some that were killed.

She makes a great NVA psyop poster child, that I will concede. And that's all I am willing to concede.

"What I realized writing my book was that I had been empty since adolescence."

You still are, sweetheart.

Little Janie knows a few of the cliches of religiosity and "churchianity," but throughout her interview, she has absolutely no reference to Christ. And without Christ, no one is a christian. "Feelings" and "upwellings" and liver-quivers are meaningless.

Sorry, Jane, you're not credible. You've had no conversion. You have been a feminist, and now you think you can be a christian feminist.

Reminds one of Mickey Cohen, the gangster. He got "religion" like Janie, and thought he could be a christian gangster! It doesn't work that way!

Hanoi Jane is a Christian. Now I've heard everything. Nowadays every celebrity is finding RELIGION. Except that it's the religion that they define themselves. I have also heard that there are abortion doctors that claim to be Christians, just as there are practicing homosexuals that claim to be Christians. Yes, and Adolph Hitler also called himself a Christian.

You can call yourself whatever you want but that doesn't mean that you believe it. They only do it to gain acceptance.

I just remembered: John Kenneth Galbraith. Here are some quotes, although he has more "winners" than these:

"The man who is admired for the ingenuity of his larceny is almost always rediscovering some earlier form of fraud. The basic forms are all known, have all been practiced. The manners of capitalism improve. The morals may not."

"Liberalism is, I think, resurgent. One reason is that more and more people are so painfully aware of the alternative."

"It would be foolish to suggest that government is a good custodian of aesthetic goals. But, there is no alternative to the state."

Interesting article on Galbraith.
http://www.mises.org/story/489

I am willing to bet that Hanoi Jane agrees with Galbraith and would probably take things a step further (outright Communism).

Some years ago I remember reading that Jane Fonda had become a Christian, but no details were available at the time. "Time will tell," I thought.

Well, as the saying goes, "The devil is in the details", and now we know. In 2Tim 3:6, Paul talks of false prophets in the end times who ...creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts... Poor Jane seems to fit the bill as one of those "silly women."
