Good morning, Darksheare - I'll have a cup of that coffee, too. :)
Tulip, good to see you! Thanks. :) Hope your day is nice, too - getting close to end of school - bet you enjoy the summers!
Morning!
Okers, willdo.
Yes, I believe they are. They have some wisteria on trellises that are just gorgeous, the vines are so old they are as big as tree trunks.
The puppy hardly looks familiar anymoe though - he's grown so! :)
Gotta go mow the lawn out back...
Not *THAT* lawn, I hope! LOL! (Duncan Gardens - beautiful, manicured to perfection!)
If you have a big garden you may want ot just lay a bar of soap in the middle of it. It works!
Ok - I'll take a break while I drink it. Back soon. :)
your place at the lake sounds delightful! Pinging Ride the Whirlwind (from Mich) here as she has a home that sounds similar.
When/where were you in Winston??? I was there mid 70s to 1990. I lived near Walkertown off 311. I taught part time at a small Bible College & owned my own real estate company while there.
My son & his family are still in Tobaccoville...I have a cousin, who lives on Lake Norman in Mooresville. Man, I miss the carolinas
I still have pictures from that trip.
What a beautiful garden..
I have God's garden here just wide open spaces with lots of wild flowers.Righ now the bluebonnets and indian blankets are out.
You'd be so proud of me!
I'm wearing some of my lunch! LOL!
love the topiary Billie.. I still have to open the pix, one by one.. and I have AOL! If I get a chance to work up pix, transfer to ther computer , put on server, I MIGHT post some of my yard..
No doubt about it, I was born to grub in the earth wherever I lived.
After my own heart.
Mail call Dolly.
Near where I live we have a wild animal park which also has lovely photos I visited there 3 years ago.
The park is about 15 to 20 minute drive from where I live and has one of the large colonies of apes and gorillas in captivity plus breeding elephants.
Here is a link to their website at time they even have live web cams.

I will go and look out some photos of the grounds and maybe a couple of the animals.
What a great Iris collection Aqua.. beautiful.. and they do spread don't they? In NC I mostly had english garden (mish mash) beds but did have one solely succelent, one grasses adn one of "bulbs".. it was a mixture of bulbs with rocks & wood but had a lot of iris
I will see what I can find of my beds
Was living in Ft. Pierce, Florida, and my husband was sent to Winston-Salem to manage a retail store in January 1974, on a Monday. Figuring he would find a place to rent quickly, I gave notice at work, with Wednesday of the next week as my last day. Sure enough, he found a nice house out west on Robin Hood Road, and I arranged with the mover to come the day after I quit working - *IF* I packed everything and had everything except the washer and dryer *sealed* in cartons ready to pick up.
Don't know if anyone remembers there was a severe national anything made from paper shortage at the time, with even toilet paper hard to find! I was fortunate to have access to cardboard boxes at his old store, though, hauling a couple at a time in the little Pinto we had because of the '73-'74 GAS (gasp-up to $1.25) shortage and prices..:))
Managed to get it all packed and sealed and the house cleaned right on schedule, and that Thursday afternoon headed north with Jennifer (then 11) and Tuffy Kitty, getting as far as St. Augustine before I was too tired to drive any farther...spent the next night at my sister's house in South Carolina - and Saturday arrived in Winston-Salem after a beautiful ice storm had coated everything in sight.
In April of 1975, we bought a newly completed house in what was a brand new section - Salem Meadows - of a large development (Salem Woods), off 421 toward Lewisville.
I had transferred from Sears in Ft. Pierce as a Department Manager, and did that in W-S - having met all my goals, though, in November 1975 I went to work for a GP as his *only* help for 2 years, near Forsyth Hospital. The start of 19 years in and around medicine, and loved it...
In December 1977, my husband was sent to Ohio to manage a store (in time for the Blizzard of '78) - from there to Panama City, Florida - Columbia, SC - and on to Greensboro, NC in August of 1979, with me working in 3 hospitals - in G'bro, at Moses Cone Hospital. We built a house in woods 6 miles above Liberty, and 9 miles south of Forest Oaks Country Club (GGO is held there.)
Of all the states and places we've lived, I loved NC THE MOST!! Gorgeous rolling terrain and wonderful variety - easy trip to beaches and to the glorious mountains....
When we both became disabled, it was necessary in August 1995 to move where our children could reach us with more ease; hence now are in South Carolina...sister 83 miles away - daughter upstate - sons in Lake Worth and Davie, Florida.
Thanks, Dolly - you sure know how to paint a compliment! I do think the problem is with aol though, as I wrote you in FR mail before lunch. It gets contrary for me at times and doesn't always play well with others, and this seems to be one of those times. :(
Thank you darlin. I have never been to the great Northeast & have seen a few specials on TV many years ago about Victoria & the gardens & have always wanted to go. Another thing for my list.. thanks..
I would love to walk through these gardens!
LOL!
