B5 - the only Sci-fi series to show a program from the guys who kept the station running, the real maintenance guys, running around with brooms, and tools and lunch boxes..........I don't remember the title, but that is the best piece of science fiction writing ever.

"A View From The Gallery"

Will no one on this thread give a shout out for FARSCAPE?

Yes, the new Battlestar Galactica is one of the best Sci-fi series I have watched.

Who said TV Execs has brains..

I'll second that sentiment. I still haven't forgiven Sci-Fi for cancelling Mystery Science Theater 3000, arguably the best TV show of the 90's. I understand that Barry Diller personally made that decision.

Yep. And, in spite of a budget, they did some really nice things: for instance, they were totally out of the "bumpy-head" Star Trek template. Alien makeup was relatively very imaginative and normal looking. And the acting was extraordinary; I think of the nothing that Worf was, versus what intense feeling Andreas Katsulas got through the G'kar makeup. Same with Londo.

Then there was the fact that jms, an atheist, knew identifiable human religion wouldn't just be swept away by glorious humanism (Roddenberry's pipedream).

We've re-watched eps that I remembered as not being the best, and always there's more than I recalled.

Yep, great series. Pity jms had to juggle things under the constant threat of cancellation.

Dan

Unless they water it down next season, I consider the new BG every bit the equal to B5.

I will. I'm slowly making my way through the DVD's and am halfway through season 2. Great show. Thank heaven for Netflix - have you seen how much they are selling theses discs for?

Sorry to disagree, but I think BatGal is simply 7th Heaven with laser shots.

I want to PUKE on Sci-Fi sometimes though.

Looking for something to watch, and the wealth of GOOD Sci-Fi out there, and yet outside 'nighttime' Sci-Fi likes to run NEVER ENDING lame Animal/Human Monster of the week BS.

Cross a mosquito with a man... BAM "Mosquito Man" is born
How about a REAAAALY big Crocadile... YEAH... we'll call it "The Croc!"
Next up... REAAALY big rats... yeah "Rat Swarm" is made
Then, lets see... how about a half octopus, half wale sea-monster.. yeah "OctoDeath" is created
After that, lets do a story an a freakisly big and smart SNAKE... wow... thats origian! "Snake Attacks"

Bleh... I'd rather them pick up all of these shows and just run syndicaited SciFi series like Trek, B5, BGS, FireFly, Space:Aove&Beyond, Earth2, V, etc...

Brannon and Braga won't let that happen. SCiFi Channel might make them look like the idiots they are.

I'll second that.

I will have to qualify myself that I root for the Cylons because the human characters are sooooo PC they deserve to be exterminated

I missed the season premiere and I'm going to miss this too (work 3rd shift). Are they going to replay any of these episodes? I really want to see the final season.

Just becasue it wasn't turned into an never ending multiple-franchise and it stuck to its 5 year arc is no reason to dis it.

That's what made it so good, the continuity and the complexity of the story. It was designed as a five year story. I'd like to see more sci-fi shows like that. You can't develop an interesting and deep plot when everything has to get resolved in an hour.

Agreed. Atlantis is good, but I don't it going to last as long as Sg1.. Sg1 is losing steam. Next season maybe the last we shall see. It depends how well it does without RDA

I remember that B5 episode and it was a good one, too. Can't remember the name of it either, but it did give a good view of what it would be like for us average people to live in such a place. I particualt liked seeing the Brown sections, which were basically ghettos in space. No other show ever showed how the working class and poor would be living in the future. All the other shows had basically elite characters, no working stiffs. BG is showing more of that, like with the Crew Chief and the maintenance workers on the Galactica.

It depends on your local market.. In Chicago, they replay Star Trek on Sunday nights at 9:00 pm..

"From what I understand Star Trek will be gone for a couple of years."

Yep.

"Also Rick Berman's contract is going to expire in 06"

YEP!

"he would no longer be producing Star Trek.. Someone else would"

Yep!!

"I think that is why the canceled the show."

Yep!!!

"I think the next Trek is going to be either on Spike Tv or Sci Fi."

Ummmm, no. But you were on a pretty good role up to then!

Don't forget Frankenfish...I will never get those 2 hours back. But when it's raining outside on a Saturday night and my wife is studying to get into pharmacy school, it was better than taking the dog for a walk. I have no idea who comes up with this. But a friend of mine says his teenage bots love those monster-du-jour movies on Sci-Fi.
