KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Reuters) - A man who said he was a Vietnam veteran spat tobacco juice in Jane Fonda's face at a Kansas City book signing, police said on Wednesday.
The man, 54-year-old Michael Smith, waited in line for about 90 minutes before spitting a "large amount" of tobacco juice into Fonda's face, according to Kansas City police.
Smith was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
The 67-year-old Oscar-winning actress was in town as part of a book-signing tour for her newly released autobiography titled "My Life So Far."

Wait a minute---the conservative writers and pundits have been getting things thrown at them for months--starting with Ann Coulter---
Were all arrested?

He deserves a metal. Maybe he will get some offer of legal advise or funds to help with his legal bills. I would guess he is a vet.

Is it really right to support this stuff?
I mean, we complain if Coulter or someone gets hit with a pie and this is even worse.
I don't care who it is, this should not be happening.

Thus ensuring him free beer for life. Nicely done.

"I mean, we complain if Coulter or someone gets hit with a pie and this is even worse. I don't care who it is, this should not be happening."
Difference: Coulter is merely a firebrand expressing her opinion, while Jane Fonda is a TRAITOR who by all rights should be tarrred and feathered in the public square.

Oh, come on. You know who she is. She should have been jailed years ago for treason.
A little spit in the face might help wake her up....doubt it.
To: BornInASmallTown
Surely the leftists over at DU will celebrate this as they do when conservatives are hit with pies or jars of mayonnaise.
To: G32
I don't care who it is, this should not be happening. It's called poetic justice. He's returning the favor after 30 years of being spit upon. An eye for an eye, a spit for a spit.
To: G32
It's wrong whoever does it, but at least this guy has earned his way - as opposed to the candy-**s pie-throwing punks attending college on daddy's dime. They've done nothing for anyone, and probably were paid by Moveon anyway.
To: BornInASmallTown
At 54 years old, I bet he was a 'Nam vet and waited THIS long for pay back.
Serves her right.
He did what a WHOLE lot of people have wanted to to for a LONG time.

If this guy was a POW, he could probably state with some authority that he sat in a VC prison due in part to her actions, and that the (similar) treatment he received on arriving back in the US was also a result of her efforts. I'd say he was pretty justified in his actions; wrong, but justified. He shoulda kept himself above her level.

It's Jane's fault - she should have cautioned her bodyguards to be on the lookout for anyone who looked like they had an ounce of character.
They wouldn't have been very busy.

Why is it wrong? She certainly "spat into the faces of our POWs" even if figuratively.
To: BornInASmallTown
I wish Veterans for Truth would expose her to the American public, most of whom don't know the full story. She did't just pose on an anti-aircraft gun while she was consorting with the enemy. The things she recorded to be played to the POW's were reprehensible.

I would like to thank Michael Smith for his service to his country. Both during the Vietnam war and now for spitting in the face of the woman who thought nothing of spitting in America's face in a time of war.
He did what many many many Americans would like to have done themselves.
