NBC 'TODAY' SHOW EXEC PRODUCER TOM TOUCHET FIRED
Drudge Report ^ | 4/19/05 | Matt Drudge

Posted on 04/19/2005 4:53:23 PM PDT by wagglebee

NBC 'TODAY' SHOW EXEC PRODUCER TOM TOUCHET FIRED....DEVELOPING... Tom's firing had nothing to do with the ratings or tightening numbers with ABC's 'GOOD MORNING AMERICA', a top source claims... Tom has been making changes to move the show into the future, while Host Katie Couric and NBC President Jeff Zucker are trying to keep it mired in the past. 'If it was about the ratings, NBC as a network is in 4th place and Jeff Zucker would be gone,' insider claims. 'It is common knowledge that even before Host Katie Couric signed her new deal - she had lost interest, she hated waking up early, and has been absolutely miserable'...

One day soon we'll read the long-overdue news that all network news divisions have been disbanded.

The wife and I were talking about that very thing this morning. I predict ten years. I think it's a money matter.

The network news divisions have long been a loss leader to the rest of the network. How much longer will the suits pay out good money for a loss leader that brings in fewer and fewer customers?

Got some bad ink in the Wall Street Journal today. Related to "guest-experts" being paid to hawk products and not disclosing it.

You only need to watch her for a few minutes any morning to determine that. If I want to get my day off to a crappy start, all I have to do is watch the Today Show for a few minutes and then my whole day is ruined by Ms. Sourpuss. Nobody wants to wake up to that.

Sounds like the man must have been caught uttering a conservative idea. Otherwise, the left would have supported him.

I live in Virginia Beach, VA, we have what is probably the single largest concentration of active-duty and retired military in the world. I've known military people who are Democrats, even a few who voted for the Bent One and sKerry, but I've never talked to anyone who has ever served in the military who has expressed anything other than contempt for Hitlery!

Tom Touchet is NOT the reason I stopped watching the Today Show after Katie Couric's first week. Just a clue to NBC.

You know I was thinking about this last night. She is the co-host of the Today show along with Matt Lauer. The Today Show started on NBC in 1952 with Dave Garroway. Matt Lauer is filling Dave Garroway's shoes today. Dave Garroway had a co-host, J. Fred Muggs. Katie Couric is filling J. Fred Muggs' shoes as co-host.

I'd rather have J. Fred Muggs back instead of Katie Couric. His salary would certainly be less than $15 million a year. And he would be more interesting to watch.

And he's available. Apparently he's still alive and living in retirement in Florida.
