werent you the guy that was fuming against the US. you are welcome to go to iran and enjoy their parties..
As for the deaths of sikhs in post 9-11 violence, a North American Sikh organization released those figures. People were killed not just in Arizona, but in California, New Mexico, New York and Virginia.
9-11 changed the American character quite a bit.. atleast, thats the perspective of it back home.. Many of my school mates, are afraid to come to US fearing hate-crimes.. and if I just raise this issue to discuss with Americans, the standard response I get from them is "get out of my country, you filthy foreigner.. you are a liar".
And if this is people's idea of "tolerance", I wonder what you have against India.
Knock it off. Now.
You can live in India and preach separatism. (I find that amusing.) I wouldn't blame India for throwing you out on your ear for that, as I would hope my country would toss out foreign agitators living here that agitate for a break-up of America. You have zero respect for India, that much is obvious. So, why are you there?
Btw, An independent Kashmir will never be. When "independence" for Kashmiris is talked about, it usually means Pakistani rule, or extreme ignorance.
...afterall, many Indian (read Hindu) intellectuals support Kashmiri seperatists.
India cannot afford to lose Kashmir. That would be the beginning of the end. Those who wish to see India fail understand this and use Kashmiri "independence" as a lever.
India is an artificial entity propped up the British and other invaders to begin with. I doubt it will last more then 50 more years. The internal contradictions and ethnic diversity are too vast for a country like this last too long. Even the Hindu religion is not entirely the same across India.
Multiculturalism is a facade that eventually fails. Already India has many different groups asking for more autonomy or independence.
It's estimated at 100 million killed over the entire period of Islaamic rule -- from the first invasion of Sindh in the 8th century right up until the British in the 19th.
There is a difference between a criminal organisation and a political party.
It doesn't matter how many were killed by the Muslims in the distant past - the individuals responsable are dead. It only matters their behaviour in the present day. If they are not inciting violence of their own, they should be left alone.
"But it is not like the muslims ever did this kind of things for the last 1400 years..."
RIGHT ON!!!
The Muslims are allowed to kill anyone they want and if anyone strikes back at them for their EVIL then the suicidal liberals call the Muslims the victims!
There will never be peace in the world until the last Muslim is dead.
And 1400 years of history proves the truth of that statement.
Kill the Muslims. Kill all of them.
I could care less what Mr. Modi's motivations were, all I know is there are fewer potential murderers and suicide bombers in the world today due to his actions.
Josef Stalin killed Nazis for all the wrong reasons. No one complained about that little fact...ever.
Anyone who kills a Muslim for ANY reason is fine in my book.
I have yet to see a good definition of Hinduism, either here at FR or elsewhere. Hinduism is inclusive, which is what makes it so very complicated and hard to grasp.
As for the separatist movements, they have about as much significance as our own, which is to say: Not Much.
We have separatist movements? What are you talking about?
Hmm I could try. This is what I understood from reading a lil bit about hinduism and talking to practising hindus.
Hindus really have one god - Brahman. It is a common misconception even among hindus that they have a bizillion gods. Anyways Brahman meaning Brahti(Grow)+Atman(inner self) is a god without form - or rather the Infinite if you will. The best representation of this God is a infinite energy. The ultimate aim in Hinduism is to become ONE with Brahman - popularly called Moksha.
Hinduism believes there is god in everything living but human beings are the only ones with a chance to "grow" this "god" till they reach a point where they can become one with him. Hence grow+inner-god = Brahman. If you fail to become one with God - then you are reborn and get another shot at it!! This keeps going on and on and hence hinduism encourage human beings to do good work (karma) or be devoted to god (bhakti) to become one with him.
This is the root of hinduism. The bizillion gods that you see are all representations of the various acts of God. Since it became tough to propagage this theory or encourage people to read the Vedanta / Philosophy of hinduism people came up with stories and a god for each act. Hence Hinduism has the trinity - the creater (Brahma), the preserver (Vishnu) and the destroyer (Shiva) but they are just that - manifestations of the God Brahman.
This "decentralisation" if you will has made hinduism a very strong and resilient religion. So "most practising hindus" today do not know anything about the core priniciple of hinduism but are content with worshipping their "favorite god". Hence Hinduism is an easy religion to follow - you dont need to know anything. Just look at an idol be full of devotion and worship god and lead a good life. Hence hindu temples can have an idol of any god that they want - the goddess of wealth, the goddess of power, the elephant god etc etc. the priests found that it was easier for people to just go and worship without reading or understanding too much of philosophy. what mattered was devotion
This is my understanding of that religion - just dont nail me if I said anything wrong.
