You can vote, have sex, get married, fight in a war, drive, and work, but by God you can't have a beer.

And yes, I too disregarded this law as a teenager. It was not difficult. Teenagers today disregard it, as well.

I disregarded it, too. I frankly didn't know anyone among my peers at the time who paid the slightest attention to it, either, save perhaps some of the FCA'ers.

A few years ago, a local state legislator here (I can't remember his name, just the quote) was debating a proposed law that would have outlawed cold beer sales to anyone between the hours of midnight and 6 a.m. The squawking Carrie-Nation types used that old standby of modern demagogic scoundrels, that it was "for the children." The legislator, debating on the floor of the state Senate, said "I'm here to tell you that if there was just one beer and one teenager left in the state of Oklahoma, they'd find each other."

I've always thought that that quote pretty much summed the entire situation up.
