The intention is never to alienate intentionally, yet there are those that will be alienated simply by the nature of the Truth we proclaim. Christ alienated the Pharisees and Sadducees and the early Christians alienated the Romans. We should never fear the consequences of spreading the Truth, for we need not fear those that can harm the body but not the soul.
both articles from the ledger
I had not heard that ever. Can you give me a source or two? Thanks.
Whatever happened to the good Jesuits like Vincent Miceli? I guess they died off.

This gay kook Kunst took on Anita Bryant years ago
I was the unwitting recipient of a "poll" the other day...didn't screen my calls well enough! It was a supposed "Catholic" organization polling. The first question was: "Are you Catholic?"
I answered no, but told them that my husband is (he wasn't available).
The person on the phone said "do you ever go to church with him?"...to which I answered "yes."
The pollster said (believe or not) "good enough"; said he had several questions for me, then asked me the following(paraphrased):
Do you support continuing the Pope's conservative legacy? (strongly agree; somewhat agree; etc.).
I answered "strongly agree"....AND HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!
Guess I ended up going down in the non-Catholic column after all...although he seemed perfectly eager to count me if I answered his question correctly!
My son labels himself as a Conservative Catholic/ Southern Baptist (he spent a few years before returnin to the Catholica Church in his young years it is where he learned to read the Bible, many times over and he loves Mark Lowry)
Yup. the usual suspects...
notice no one mentins that the psychiatrists at Johns Hopkins "cleared" many of the priests? Heck, I'm old enough to remember when Newsweek lauded the fact that California was releasing pedophiles into the community for out patient treatment instead of jailing them...
There are several good Jebbies left on earth.
Frs. Mankowski (Rome), Schall (D.C.), Baker (NYC), and Healy (Mke) come to mind.
We have telephoned KQNT and emailed them to protest this attack ad. If anyone else has heard this diatribe, please consider doing the same. We find it incredible that the station accepted and continues to air such language.
I'll agree with you on that. There is no guarantee the Church in America will live in the medium term though.
One thing that troubles the left about the Pope, I think, is that in the catholic (in the universal sense) church, the US isn't that important.
I had never heard of that either. I jus assumed there would be documentation but all I could find out was the following:
St. Peter's death - 22 Feb., 63
Reference: http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/11744a.htm
. UNTIL THE ASCENSION OF CHRIST
Bethsaida. St. Peter's true and original name was Simon, sometimes occurring in the form Symeon. (Acts 15:14; II Peter 1:1). He was the son of Jona (Johannes) and was born in Bethsaida (John 1:42, 44), a town on Lake Genesareth, the position of which cannot be established with certainty, although it is usually sought at the northern end of the lake. The Apostle Andrew was his brother, and the Apostle Philip came from the same town.
Capharnaum. Simon settled in Capharnaum, where he was living with his mother-in-law in his own house (Matthew 8:14; Luke 4:38) at the beginning of Christ's public ministry (about A.D. 26-28). Simon was thus married, and, according to Clement of Alexandria (Stromata, III, vi, ed. Dindorf, II, 276), had children. The same writer relates the tradition that Peter's wife suffered martyrdom (ibid., VII, xi ed. cit., III, 306). Concerning these facts, adopted by Eusebius (Hist. Eccl., III, xxxi) from Clement, the ancient Christian literature which has come down to us is silent. Simon pursued in Capharnaum the profitable occupation of fisherman in Lake Genesareth, possessing his own boat (Luke 5:3).
So far, the post-Vatican liberalization of the Church to attract new followers, how is that working out? I pray for the election of the Nigerian.
almost?
I don't know enough about the papal possibles to know who would be best as the next pope. But just a hunch, I think they will elect an Italian pope, after 25 years without one.
The Sunday morning talk shows should be instructive on how the MSM will handle the conclave and the run up to it. Evidently, (according to FOXNews), Cardinal Law will lead one of the Vatican prayer services this week, and there will be American protestors.
Disband the Jesuits.
That is certainly a unique combination - Southern Baptist/Catholic. But it is always good to remember that we are all Christians. I guess my respect for the Catholic church has stemmed from my years spent in SW Ohio - a predominantly Catholic region of the state. I have learned that these folks are every bit as conservative as us Southern Baptists. We agree on many issues.
I was extremely and happily surprised at the treatment he was given.
