We need your input

American Life League’s third annual National Pro-life T-shirt Day was a smashing success. The pro-life message was out in force, especially at public high schools where sex ed is taught and teen pregnancy is the consequence. Thousands upon thousands of shirts were worn on April 26, stirring up countless conversations, changing hearts and minds to the truth.

Next year’s T-shirt day will be April 25, 2006 and we expect this one to be bigger than ever — but we need your help! Please send your ideas, comments and suggestions our way. Do you have a T-shirt design or a slogan idea? Do you have suggestions on how to get the word out? We’re interested, so write to us at info@RockForLife.org or click here. Thanks for your help!"

Vote for “Can I Live?”

Last week we told you about the song “Can I Live?” by Nick Cannon. For those of you not familiar with it yet, it’s based on the true story about his mom, who was pregnant with Nick when she was only 17. She was considering abortion, even going so far as to the abortion mill. Thank God for Nick and everyone else, she chose life.

The video gives the song an extra edge, seeing the coldness of an abortion clinic inter-cut with singing children. It’s very moving when Nick hugs his mom at the end. You can check out the song and the video by clicking here.

“Can I Live?” is getting some airplay on MTV and BET. Consider voting for “Can I Live?” so they will air it more often. You never know, maybe we can get that video on MTV’s TRL or BET’s 106 & Park: Top Ten Live! Click here to vote for it on BET. Click here to vote for it on MTV. Scroll down nearly to the bottom, click on "other" and enter the fields. Let's help get this video more airplay and get the message to more people that need to hear it!

Partner with RFL this summer

Many of you ask, “How can I help Rock for Life?” With the summer approaching our needs are going to be great. Please look over the short list and let us know if you can partner with us this summer, by spreading the pro-life message to our generation.
  • Pray! Pray as often as you can for Rock for Life. The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is His delight (Proverbs 15:8)
  • Gas cards. Rock for Life will be traveling nearly 7,000 miles this summer to attend 11 Christian music festivals. With gas costing over $2 a gallon, we expect to incur expenses over $1,500 on gas alone. Would you consider sending us a gas card to help ease the burden?
  • Food. With all of the traveling this summer, along with hosting volunteers at our headquarters, we will be going through a lot of food. Food on the road can be expensive. Would you consider hosting a meal for us while we are traveling? If you live near our headquarters, would you be willing to host a meal for a volunteer or two?
Donate. Without the financial assistance from supporters like you, we could not do it. Click here to make a donation to Rock for Life

There is so much more you can do to help us make this summer a huge success. Click here for more ideas. Thanks big time!

Summer Tour

The Summer Tour has been going great. Hearts and minds are converting to the pro-life side. At our information table, we have a three-ring binder with a warning label on it. Inside are graphic photos of abortion and detailed descriptions of abortion procedures.  After looking at this booklet many people have gone away pro-life.

Our stage at Cornerstone was one of the festival’s best and it was rockin' from 2 p.m.-midnight. In between each band we were able to plug life and throw out many free shirts. Erik's wife Tina gave a brief presentation about life before the emotionally charged Still Remains set. At least one girl was deeply moved by what Tina said, and she is now motivated to take a stand for the babies and their mothers.

Shout outs go to:

Ø      Jeff Tragedy, for booking bands and managing the stage

Ø      Volunteers: Kortney Blythe, Jessica Corrill, Melissa Powell, Daniel Hunter, Sam Hammer, Mike Frazier

Ø      All of the bands that played our stage, visit RockForLife.org/Cstone2005.html for a list

Ø      Roll Call Crew, for keeping it real

Ø      All of the dirty hippies and hxc kids who slept on the stage at night to keep it "safe"

Ø      Donors, who gave us prepared meals, food and gas cards!

We’ve spent a lot of time talking to people, particularly many who were not very supportive of Rock for Life or the pro-life message.

Sadly, a lot of misconceptions have spread (like "Rock for Life is a political front group" or "Rock for Life doesn't care about the women"). But we corrected that. Since Rock for Life is not a political organization, people from all backgrounds are able and encouraged to unite in the same message of life — with no exceptions, no compromise and no apologies.

This past weekend we were at Lifest in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. A number of bands supported us there by letting us throw out shirts after a brief pro-life speech, or they did it themselves! Special thanks to Superchic[k], Poor Man's Riches, Kids in the Way, Spoken, Flatfoot 56, Silverline, The Fold, The Wedding, Seventh Day Slumber, Deju Normal and Edi.

We are stoked to be out talking to everyone, encouraging our generation to take a stand for life. I write to you from Waukesha, Wisconsin as we prepare for tonight’s a Rock for Life show. Tomorrow we'll be traveling to Oakdale, Minnesota for another Rock for Life concert and details are below.

After that it's SonShine Festival (July 14-16) in Willmar, Minnesota and Shine Fest (July 17) in Bourbonnais, Illinois. If you attend one of these festivals, make sure to stop by, hit us up and find out how you can make a difference.

Rock for Life is proud to announce that Phil Eddy is the newest addition to our family at American Life League. Phil’s been a longtime Rock for Life leader and friend. Rock for Life Report 1.30.06

Training weekend recap

We had an incredible time hitting the streets of DC with so many of you. Instead of us rambling on and on about it, we’ve decided to let YOU write the recap. With that in mind, this is what YOU’VE told us:

Rock for Life training weekend was awesome. It was my first time going and I definitely am going again next year. DC is a very liberal place and it felt so good to get out there and let people know the truth about abortion and our Savior Jesus Christ. My favorite part was sidewalk chalking NOW's route to the U.S. Supreme Court. The whole street was filled and they heard our message loud and clear!  -Katie, Toledo

I loved our prayer presence at the pro-abortion rally Sunday evening and seeing about four times as many pro-lifers there as abortion supporters. Another cool thing was not being able to get into the youth Mass at the MCI Center because it was already filled with 22,000 young people. We were directed to a parish a few blocks away, which was also overflowing. What a wonderful problem to have when there are so many pro-lifers!  -Mary T

This weekend was so amazing. I thought last year was awesome, but this year definitely topped it. I loved how we had so many opportunities to actually go out and do stuff like talk to people on the streets while handing out literature, sing in front of the Supreme Court and Planned Parenthood, and just totally be a witness for Christ. It was such an uplifting yet humbling weekend. I got the spiritual fix that I needed but at the same time I was humbled and grateful for the life that I was given. Thank you so much for all your hard work, you guys rock my world :)  -Nadyne Z

It was great to see such a great turnout at this years march for life. My sincerest hope is that there won't be another march and that this country (and everyone around the globe) will come to understand the sanctity of human life. Thanks to all those who came. You'll be in my prayers.  -Matthew S

Thank you for joining us. We are so blessed to work with all of you.

A major emphasis we placed on the weekend was being a visible witness for life on the streets of DC. If the media is any gauge of our success, I think we did a fairly decent job. With that in mind, here are a few links to some online news media showing our efforts.

Next year’s Training Weekend will be Jan. 19-22. Mark your calendars and make plans to join us for another amazing weekend hitting the streets of Washington, DC being an effective visible witness for life.

We’ve uploaded some pics from the Training Weekend.

Alito update

Tuesday morning (Jan. 24) we delivered thousands of our Approve Alito petitions to Senator Arlene Spector’s office. He chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I was joined by Erin and Daniel from Phoenix RFL, as well as Jeni from Michigan and Dwain from the American Life League offices.

That morning Judge Alito's nomination was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee, so thanks for signing and promoting the petition. Your efforts certainly made a huge difference.

Now Alito must face a full Senate vote. Right now senators are debating whether to approve Alito or not. Most believe his approval is pretty much guaranteed but I don’t think it’s a done deal. You never know what the abortion supporters will do as a last ditch effort to derail the process. So keep calling, email and faxing your support for Alito to your U.S. senator.

Stop Planned Parenthood Tax Funding

Did you know:

1.      Planned Parenthood Is the largest abortion chain in America and has killed more that 3 million innocent children at its facilities

2.      Planned Parenthood’s top goal for the next 25 years is to push its agenda of promiscuous sex everywhere in our society

3.      Planned Parenthood puts minors on birth control without parents’ knowledge or involvement

4.      Planned Parenthood has demonstrated a willingness to cover up for rapists and child predators

5.      Planned Parenthood pushes pornography onto children with shocking and offensive websites, books, and literature

6.      Planned Parenthood is openly hostile to Christianity, and regularly mocks people of faith

7.      Planned Parenthood hurts women with misleading and dishonest medical information

8.      And Planned Parenthood does all of this with over $265 million dollars a year of your tax money

If you’re like many of us who are fed up with this insanity, then take a stand. Tell your elected officials that you do not want your tax dollars going to this organization. Start by signing the petition at www.StopPlannedParenthoodTaxFunding.com  http://www.stopplannedparenthoodtaxfunding.com/ . After you’ve signed it, tell your your friends.
