My main curiosity is if officers are allowed to keep their law enforecement jobs after displaying such irresponsible behavior with firearms? Minnesota statute 609.666 subdivision 2 makes it a crime if someone "negligently stores or leaves a loaded firearm in a location where the person knows, or reasonably should know, that a child is likely to gain access, unless reasonable action is taken to secure the firearm against access by the child".Un-loaded firearms stored negligently are subject to child endangerment or civil charges if they are misused.

Guns don't solve all problems, but they give more options besides dying in place.
