Jury finds DA liable in discrimination suit

FIRED WHITE WORKERS ARE AWARDED $1.9 MILLION

Thursday, March 31, 2005 By Gwen Filosa Staff writer

A federal jury said Wednesday that Orleans Parish District Attorney Eddie Jordan, the first African-American to be elected the city's chief prosecutor, discriminated against 43 white employees when he fired them in 2003.

Jurors awarded the plaintiffs about $1.9 million in back pay and other damages, a figure equal to about 20 percent of Jordan's annual budget of $10 million. Jordan said his office could not afford such a payment and that he would appeal the verdict.

If he couldn't afford it then he should have not discriminated. There are consequences for actions.

He should do jail time. Wouldn't that be special - a prosecutor in lockup.

"There are consequences for actions."

It seems to me from what I have observed over the years, that this is far from an isolated incident. What I am referring to is not just an action of discrimination, but an attitude by officials. It's basically, "so sue me." They know that awards will not be coming out of their pockets and they know that they won't lose their jobs. They don't care because even if a decision is wrong, and deliberately so, there are no consequences.

This particular case illustrates the principle dramatically. This man is well trained in the law. If anyone ever "knew, or should have known" that his actions were not legal, it was this man. But, his arrogance is not unusual for public officials. "So sue me."

All people should be held accountable for discrimination,
not just whites or blacks. For example, Indians are just
as guilty of discrimination as other groups.

At some high technology companies, some departments are all Indian. A manager hires only Indians. These companies
should be sued for discrimination.

At some companies, everyone in the Information Technology
department is Indian. These companies should be sued for
discrimination.

These companies include Sun Microsystems, Intel,
Hewlett-Packard, Siebel Systems, and Microsoft.

This kind of discrimination has been happening for a long
time. An Indian becomes a manager, and then he fires
everyone who is not Indian. He hires only Indians. He
hires Indians from India using the H-1B visa program.
He pretends that he cannot find qualified Americans, and
then he uses the H-1B visa program to hire Indians from
India.

These Indians from India may not have the proper training or
credentials for a position. This manager may misrepresent
the credentials of a person who comes to the United States
using an H-1B visa. The person who applies for an H-1B
visa can easily misrepresent his training and credentials.

Appropriate credentials and training are not properly
monitored by the United States government. A terrorist
can easily misrepresent his training and credentials
and gain entry into the United States using an H-1B visa.
India has a large number of Muslims who may be sympathetic
to Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations.

India was once ruled by Muslims. The temple Taj Mahal in
India was built by Muslims.
