Check the chart listed in reply 2.
He got more than that.
Thanks, Its crowded enough.
If only some generous freeper had donated Greer's campaign 300$, Terri wouldn't have to go through this
judges in Florida are elected, not appointed. So it's kind of hard to keep a grip on them, unless the voters vote them
In Arizona judges used to be elected and it was a problem.
It is a bigger problem now that most of them are appointed and only have to face a vote to keep or oust once every few years.
I have been in the justice system for over thirty years both as a defendent in multiple suits brought by my ex-husband and as an attorney. The system is broken by ridiculous rules of evidence, laws that impose strict liability, mandatory sentencing and law schools that have propagandized the knowledge of the history of U.S. law and its reliance on the common law and the natural law out of future lawyers and judges sphere of thinking.
Take back America.
Re: "WOW a whole $250 that would sure throw my support."
That was just the tip of the iceburg - check for other connections on http://www.theempirejournal.com/03010501_prior_schiavo_abuse_allegations_covered_up_by_ag_Crist.htm
It is just one of the articles pointing to questionable connections.
On May 6, 2004, a Pinellas county court struck down legislation ("Terri's Law") passed by the Florida legislature and signed by Governor Jeb Bush, which was designed to halt a previous attempt to starve Terri Schiavo to death.
Amen to that. I spent considerable time in the stacks, and actually bothered to read Blackstone and others, even though not assigned. Caught plenty of times that the textbooks misrepresnted the gravamen of any particular case, and made sure that fact was know to everybody present in the classroom. E.g., I'd bring up the actual facts and logic and holding in the next class session.
Too damn little independence, and too damn little ethics out there. Lawyers are no exception, the majority of them are stupid little sheep too, just like the public at large only "better educated."
Whether Felos' donation was $500, $5000 or $50 makes no difference. There were and are numerous ways one can get much more donation money into the pocket of a judge legally without one's name being listed as the actual donor.
In Florida, as in most other states that have judges "retention" on the ballot, it's all a big joke. The people just blindly vote "yes" on retention although probably hardly one in a hundred know who they're voting affirmatively for.
Same way with referendums and initiatives on the ballot. The mostly uninformed voters go quickly down the list, voting "yes" on everything. They don't have the faintest idea what they're voting for, but feel compelled to make "X's" in every one of those little blank boxes so they don't feel ignorant to themselves.

this appears to be more than a tin foil hat story
This story broke last night. To me, this would allow Gov. Bush to seize Terri. This smell of corruption. The other members of Michael Shiavo's team that donated to the judge are as (copied from thread last night):
Re: Contributions from Empire Journal
The contributors included members of the Michael Schiavo legal team, Hamden Baskin III, $500; Deborah Bushnell, $250; Felos and Felos of which lead Schiavo attorney George Felos is a principal, $250; Gynethe S. Stanley, $150 and $250; Steven Nilsson, $250 and $250.
See following address for full detail:

I believe donations were made, but to suggest these minuscule sums played part in Greer's decision sounds like tinfoil to me
you, are, unfortunately, right. I don't vote on someone, if I don't know anything about them. If I was in floriduh, I would have a list of judges that I would always vote against.
How could anyone besides you be sure of that? If I were an Attorney defending or prosecuting a case in your court, I would not be comfortable with the fact that you received a donation from the opposing team. I would demand a new Judge to hear the case.
The main attorney, Felos, is on the board of directors of the Hospice that Terri has been living at for five years who contributed money to Greer immediately after he ruled against Terri.
Judge Greer will not allow anyone to review Terri's medical records. If Terri wasn't in a 'terminal' state she could not receive Medicare to keep her in the hospice program. I and others believe this boiling down to Medicare Fraud and a cover-up by this judge to protect himself and his contributors.
My understanding is that under the Federal program you must be in a terminally ill state and be reevaluated every six months to be eligible for Hospice. Possibly this has changed since my mother was in hospice but I don't think so. Being mentally retarded and disabled does not qualify for hospice alone. You must be terminal. No wonder he has defied the Congress. He has some very incriminating documents to hide.
But add up all of the support - both financial as well as physical and property. It does show a bit of a conflict.
And if you did ask for a different judge, I would recuse myself.
You're right. I can't be certain that Greer wouldn't sell his soul for a $500 campaign contribution. I'm just saying that it seems unlikely, and if Greer is of such a despotic character that he would sell his soul for a $500 campaign contribution, then I don't want him on the bench irrespective whether he actually received a campaign contribution or not.
And don't worry...there's no chance. Too bad for you guys too, because I have no kids and a huge net worth.
