And Greer, vilified by many religious protesters, is a church regular. He also is a conservative Republican in a state whose conservative Republican governor tried to overturn one of Greer's orders.
"George is the religious right," said lawyer David Kurland, a longtime friend.
Friends say Greer's intellect is perfectly formed to withstand the very tempest he now faces. Always calm, not prone to mood swings or flares of temper, unerringly polite, he is not easily ruffled, they say.
But the criticisms sting, friends say. His relationship with his church, for example, has changed.
"He's been through a lot of storms in his life," said Mary Repper, a political consultant and friend. "This is just another one. George takes everything in stride."
Well your opinion is garbage and moral relativism of the worse kind. On side simply wants their daughter to live, the other wants to starve a person to death. There is no moral equivalence there.
Her husband?
Yeah.
Considering it's his word against the parents and the testimony from both sides is problematic, I don't understand why a court never appointed a third party to act as her guardian.
Where is Eric Rudolph when we need him...
Thanks! What was the result of the follow-up tests, do you know?
Well, either this article or the one below is wrong.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1364003/posts
"The pastor of the Florida judge involved in the Terri Schiavo case has spoken out, saying that pulling the disabled woman's feeding tube would be tantamount to murder."
"This isn't about letting someone die; this is about causing someone's death. There is a huge difference," William E. Rice, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Clearwater, Fla., wrote in a column posted on the Florida Baptist Witness website."
"Florida Judge George Greer is an inactive member(bold mine) of Calvary Baptist, where Rice has served as pastor for five months. Greer has ordered Schiavo's feeding tube be removed Friday. Rice, though, says removal of the tube would be unethical."
You have to wonder why Bill is allowed to mislead the public with his shoddy journalism.
Judge Greer public office info:
Rm. 484, 315 Court Street
Clearwater, FL 33756
(727) 464-3933
ggreer@jud6.org
Beyond this, demand his church excommunicate Greer:
wrice@calvarybaptist.org
441-1581 and ask for extension 117
We don't need Eric Rudolph, we need a principled Republican Party. And we don't advocate murder here at FR.
Isn't Greer a Scientology follower? ... The word 'church' seems odd for that sect.
First of all, that's not how it works. Florida law states that a guardian who "may have a conflict of interest" must be removed. The next of kin is then appointed guardian if they are capapble and not conflicted.
But that's moot, the Court of Appeals held that MS and the Schindlers will not decide Terri Schiavo's fate, the state will. It is about as eggregious an abuse of power as one could ever find in American jurisprudence.
After seeing the actions of this Republican, Conservative, judge how can anyone say that if Bush appoints Conservative judges to the Supreme Court its activism will stop?
There are no guarantees when appointing judges to life time positions that have no viable oversight. Conservative judges can turn into activist judges in a short time, and we all have to live with the result.
What is Judge Greer's reasoning here?
Total B.S. from this paper that regularly bloviates on "culture of death" issues. If you read what his pastor wrote that was on here yesterday, this is murder. Greer got mad and resigned from his church because he didn't like the fact that the church newspaper was critical of him in regard to this case and said so in their editorials when he was running for office.
Greer has ruled that nobody can offer her food or water. Read the court order he produced to murder her.
Not to mention blatant lies.
The videos show her parents doing things for her. As a medical professional for years, I find it hard to believe that they would have put in a tube unless it was necessary.
All of that aside, I can think of nothing better that for her to be able to take sustance by mouth to prove that she is not in a vegetative state.
I guess heaven is like some Country Clubs- I don't want to go anyplace that would have me as a member. Just kidding.
Neither will I. I expect she will be gone before congress, Jeb Bush, ot the FL legislature can get around to acting on this. Yes, George Greer is a Republican. He's also a crook. Don't believe me? Read this: http://justiceforfloridaseniors.org/abusenfraud/index.php?p=17
The FL Republican party is busy as little bees covering up all the fraud that the legal community (Republicans and Democrats) are involved in when it comes to guardianship. Terri is the tip of the iceberg and nobody wanted all this media attention because it's a threat to their lucrative business.
In the coming years it will rival the number of innocent babies that are murdered in the name of the law.
Same here -- I haven't followed this all that close until the judge thumbed his nose at the Congress.
Whatever...read the story and replies on the Iranian Child Molester. I believe there were a bunch of people who advocated murder here on FR in the past two days!
And there have been one or two people, here on FR, who have suggested that it would be better for Terri Schindler to be murdered (they called it "ending her suffering").
What we need is principled people on both sides of the political fence not just our side. BTW, Good luck purging the RINOs (unprincipled Republicans) out of the party.
It's easy not to get ruffled when you don't give a damn.
She does swallow. The dishonorable Judge Greer ordered that she's not allowed to swallow food, water, or anything other than her own saliva. In a few days, she won't even have saliva to swallow.
His wife. She works for the St. Pete Times.
Because there's a court ordered from Judge Greer forbidding them to feed her, give her anything to drink, or even soothe her dehydrated mouth with drops of water or ice chips. Nothing is allowed in her mouth, except for the few teeth that haven't been yanked out.
You were right. Her family was thrown out of the room when the tube was removed.
There were no follow up tests. Judge Greer wouldn't allow them. He dismissed the guardian ad litem, even though it was not within his jursidiction to do so, because the GAL said she was somewhat responsive, and should have swallow tests. That was a big shock to everyone, as he was specifically chosen by the judge based on his outspoken opposition to anyone blocking Terri's murder. When he spent time with her over the course of a month, and reviewed medical records that have been hidden from her family, the courts, and the public, he stopped parroting the lies of her estranged husband. So Judge Greer dismissed him, in violation of the law. She hasn't had a guardian ad litem since then, and she's never had a lawyer. When her parents attorney petitioned the court to appoint an attorney for Terri, which is required by law, Judge Greer refused. He said that he represents her as her guardian ad litem, and she has no right to an attorney.
"George is the religious right," said lawyer David Kurland, a longtime friend.
Has anyone noticed that liberals love to claim RINOs are conservative Republicans. They're doing it for Pinellas' King George, just like they did for Illinois' King George (1999-2003).
Greer knows full well that he's murdering a concious woman. That's why he's trying to have her killed ASAP. If Terri ever receives an honest (and undrugged) examination by someone Felos et al. can't claim is a "Schindler hack", Greer will spend a lot of time in jail.
They won't even allow her to have ice chips. There is no way they would let her take any nourishment by mouth.
