"Keen birdwatchers, meanwhile, believe the spires lovebirds could be kestrels."I love this line. I don't know why. Perhaps, I can hear John Cleese or Michael Palin. The story is about a ghostly apparition but nevermind that, the lovebirds could be kestrels!
It's odd though that the apparition looks just like the Virgin Mary but there is no suggestion of that in the article.

Why would it be a 'ghost'? Where's the rest of the picture... why is it cropped so tight?
Sounds like too much time... and too little to do.

Could you add me to your ping list. Ten years ago I would have rolled my eyes at this story, that was before we moved into our 120 year old Victorian Cottage.

I was gobsmacked when I printed off the photos,
Does being "gobsmacked" qualify one for a medical diasability that prevents them from having to have a real job?
I'm looking for a qualifying condition, thought this might work . . . . .

Same here. We bought an 1840's farm house 9 years ago and share it with a ghost. Before if you had asked me about ghosts I would have laughed and shook me head; I did not believe, but now I sure do.

'Gobsmacked' means you feel as though someone just smacked you in the gob(mouth). I.e. astonished and rather stunned.
