A .49 caliber isn't nearly as scary.

Not yet.
Bayonnet lugs and pistol grips and flash suppresors are scary so just give them time and the .48 will be the next terrorist weapon.
Then the .46, then the .45 then the .44. And on and on and on until bb guns are terrorist weapons.

In short, bringing down a plane with a .50 is no easy trick

A single shot, bolt action or semi-auto, certainly. But a full auto M-2 can do the job. But she throws lots of rounds and gives you a much better chance of hitting something important, like the compression blade rings you mention, or most anything in the hot section of the engines.

The gun grabbers deliberately and with malice aforethought seek to create confusion in the minds (I use the word loosely) of the sheeple between a .50 sniper/long range rifle and a .50 machine gun. Just as they did between the full auto assault (or battle) rifles and their semi-auto look alikes.

Give me a rifle with a pistol grip and I can bring down anything.
Or a folding stock.
Or a large magazine.
I can take out an Mi tank with a bayonet lug.
So it is wise to outlaw those items.

Ok this is a matter of schematics but i would say its a lot easier to come up with 500 dollars for a handgun then the $20,000 it would take to get a 50 caliber bmg rifle.

You can get them for 3000 or less. http://www.serbu.com/bfg50.htm

The last I heard 50 caliber incendiary ammo was illegal for all but military personal.

Wrong again.

Yes there is basic physics. It would be almost impossible to hit a plane with a simple gun taking off at 300 mph or landing at roughly 200 mph

Still wrong. Its a matter of angle.

FWIW, I support private ownership of 50's but you need to check your facts.

After Zell Miller's speach, they want to outlaw spit-wads.

They could put biological agents on spit wads so why not outlaw spit wads?
Just when you think it can't get anymore absurd they surpass us in absurdity.

Consider buying an AR-15 lower in a private sale, then buying a 50 BMG upper (which is an unregulated gun part.) That way, the feds will never know you have a 50 BMG to get you on the confiscatin list (assuming you can't find the ideal 50 BMG in a private sale).

This just BEGS for a "mythbusters" demonstration that this 50 cal RIFLE taking down a plane is absurd.

That particular show did an excellent demonstration showing how a bullet WILL NOT cause a hollywood-esque decompression.

I think the lefties have been watching too much TV. This is just feel good look busy legislation that does NOTHING but attack the second amendment via collateral attack.

On the other side of the coin that gets completely ignored.
What happens if as the terrorists now want to attack soft targets, i.e., us in the U,S. and we need the heaavy firepower to defend against a small plane releasing chemical agents on us before law enforcement gets in gear?
What if we need the extra firepower of full auto to defend against a mall attack by say ten terrorists with full auto and RPG's and our constitutionally protected defensive weapons are lawfully locked up in the trunks of our cars or at home?
What if the terrorists attack a school and by law we are not allowed to have any weapons within 1000yds of a school?
How many of us will be sacrificed for the politicians to advance their unconstitutional agenda of safety for all.
What happens then?

The "ma-duce" was my favorite weapon to fire when I was in the Army. It could definitely rearrange a target area. The M-60 was fun when you wanted to just blast some rounds, but if you wanted to get some work done.......

Yup! How long before it's

.30 caliber sniper rifles were designed as battlefield rifles

I have a deadly, high-powered .22-caliber sniper rifle.

If it is possible that tyrants will employ light armored vehicles or use aircraft to enslave us and negate our rights without leaving us a political alternative, than that is all the reason that we need to have these rifles.
