I was a Navy recruiter for 3 years. The only information I ever received from any school (New York State) was a list of seniors' names. I didn't get any home address, phone number or anything of the sort.
To contact the students I had to use the phone book. Then mail them letters. My contact information gathering involved having the delayed enlistment kids that had already signed up act as my spys and provide me with the home addresses and phone number - they were pretty effective at gathering contact info.
So the bill (if it passes) will have little effect on recruiting so let the dems waste their time on this junk while more important stuff gets shuffled to next year.
I attended a college fair a couple of years ago with my son and I distinctly remember an active duty 1LT from USMA being there. Your other information is fine, but this liason officer was active.
Are we all forgetting that for most high school seniors when they turn 18 they are legally required to register for the draft? If the government can be this intrusive in the name of national security, then it probably can do the same thing that credit card companies are doing and target its recruiting at likely candidates.
Some are active but their reason for being at a high school college night is to inform about a four-year institution of higher learning not recruit. That is distinction with a very real difference.
