50 Cent, the Game Call a Truce
Associated Press ^ | 3/9/05

Posted on 03/09/2005 10:21:41 AM PST by Mr. Mojo

NEW YORK - Rappers 50 Cent and former protege The Game are calling a truce.

The Game has a foundation, Black Wall Street, which empowers the community through business development. 50 Cent said he's launching a new foundation, G-Unity, to help people overcome obstacles. The two will donate to the Harlem Boys Choir and Compton Unified School District Music Program.

"I realized that if I'm going to be effective at that, I have to overcome some of my own. Game and I need to set an example in the community," 50 Cent said in a statement.

It comes a week after a bitter feud broke out between the two rappers. A member of The Game's crew was wounded during a shooting outside a New York hip-hop radio station, where 50 Cent — who produced part of The Game's platinum-selling debut album — was on the air, announcing that he was kicking him out of his G-Unit clique.

No one has been arrested for the shooting, and police are still investigating the incident, but some in the media have suggested it may have been the beginning of violent dispute between the two rappers, who flaunt a gangsta image: Both are former drug dealers and both have been shot multiple times.

There have been comparisons to the feud between Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G. nearly a decade ago. Both rappers were shot to death in separate slayings that have not been solved.

The Rev. Al Sharpton (news - web sites) on Tuesday proposed a ban that would muzzle artists who are connected to any violent acts, denying them airplay on radio and television for 90 days. Though he did not single out 50 Cent by name, he told The Associated Press that a recent shooting linked to a feud involving 50 demonstrated the need for such a policy.

In a related note, due to the weakness of the U.S. dollar, 50 Cent will now be known as 37 Cent.

I don't know how Wikapedia typed this with a straight face:

The Game (rapper)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
(Redirected from (The) Game)

Jayceon Taylor, also known as The Game (or Game) is a rap artist signed to Aftermath Records. Until March 2005, he was a member of G-Unit, a rap group headed by 50 Cent.

The Game is from Compton, a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, California, notorious for more than three decades for its crime and gang violence. A member of the Bloods, Taylor was shot in 2001, possibly by a member of the Crips. While recuperating from his injuries, Taylor set three goals: to rap, to become active in real estate, and to go back to school. He tried rapping and it paid off: rapper Dr. Dre found him in Compton and signed him to Aftermath records. The Game is also currently featured on various mixtapes released from DJ Kay Slay, DJ Whoo Kid, DJ Clue, and other rap DJ's.

In late 2004, The Game released his debut single, "How We Do", featuring 50 Cent. As of March 2005, "How We Do" had hit #4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

On 18 January 2005, The Game's first full album, The Documentary, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top 200. It was the biggest January album debut since SoundScan began tracking album sales in 1991, with 587,000 sales in it's first week. His album also debuted at #7 in the UK albums chart.

The Game is also founder of The Black Wall Street Records which includes former Murder Inc. Records rapper Vita.

[edit]

Rivalries

Even though The Game is a new artist, he already has made some hip-hop enemies: among them Death Row Records and Suge Knight, and reportedly Memphis Bleek and Jay-Z. There is probably some animosity because of the success of yet another Dr. Dre artist being compared to the languishing state of Death Row. On Game's 2002 mixtape, he featured ex-Row member Crooked I, and also rapped daringly on a Big Mike mixtape: "Niggaz think we just boyz n tha hood/City of angels got poisoned by Suge/I'm wheelin' through the Wilshire District/Thinkin' how Big and Pac got shot by pistols/L.A. Times call it the Death Row conspiracy/Run up on my '64, I'll take you out your misery." About the story that Suge slapped him: "New York, New York Diss": "Left the VMA Awards/Went back to the hood/Streets is talkin'/Game got slapped by Suge/False: I was face to face wit 'em".

Another rivalry is based on a line from The Game's "Westside Story" track where he says "And I don't do button up shirts or drive Maybacks", which Jay-Z took this as a direct insult to him. The result of this is a Jay-Z freestyle that Game percieved was disrespecting him, with lines like "The game's through." However, Jay insists the "game" references were just about the rap game itself, not the rapper The Game.

Recently The Game was dropped from G-Unit Records by 50 Cent. The reason 50 had given for this is that, "The Game is disloyal and I would appreciate it if he would stop saying G-Unit!" During a radio interview with Hot 97 in New York City on March 1, 2005, 50 Cent, while discussing the growing riff between the two rappers, was rushed out of studio as The Game's posse attempted to gain entrance to the studio to confront 50 Cent. In the process, a man from Compton was shot, reportedly by a member of 50 Cent's posse.

Although many have known of the problems between the two rappers, many believe the reason for his exclusion is down to 50 unable to handle The Game's record sale's, and even though they are unable to compete with those from Get Rich Or Die Trying, he felt The Game would present competition to him and thus dropped him. However, albeit he is dropped from G-Unit, The Game is still tied to Aftermath records. This could result in a beef developing between the G-Unit and The Game camp, or even the Shady/Aftermath camp with G-Unit.

This is rich! Just imagine the apoplexy if a white republican proposed this type of true government censorship. Sharpton is proposing artistic lynching!

Fase tried to keep him away from thuggin’ but, once it became clear that Game was going to be there, his brother was determined to teach him how to survive on the streets. Then, after graduating high school in 1999, an older adopted brother, Charles, was shot and killed. “People don’t know what type of toll that takes on your life,” he says. “Especially being young and just fresh out in the world.” A one-time star shooting guard for Compton High School who was offered scholarships to various colleges, the 6-foot-4 Game now started gangbangin’ hard--car thefts, drug dealing and shootings. Finding him too much to handle, his mother kicked him out of her house.

In 2000, The Game and his brother moved into the projects in a nearby city and took over its drug trade. Their success attracted rivals. Late on the night of October 1, 2001, Game was alone in their apartment when there was a knock on the door. Game became victim to a home invasion. “That was the biggest learning experience ever in my life. This sounds crazy but I appreciate that happening to me, because I’d probably be dead if it didn’t. Anybody who gets shot and survives feels lucky. On the other hand I went through so much already that I felt somebody owed me. Now I could live out my dreams.”

These clowns like "half a buck / two bits" can't speak proper english much less have anything coming out of their mouths that indicates any special talents when it comes to singing.

I predict that Mr. Cent ends up as broke and in as much of a mess as the guy who's house he recently bought, Mike Tyson (bought from Tyson's ex-wife actually). If someone doesn't shoot the thug first.

If I was "W", I would call a press conference and declare victory over this war-torn area and cite as the source of this newfound peace.....the invasion of Iraq! (Hey, Clinton would have done it in a heartbeat. You know he would.) He could even claim that G-Unit and "The Game" have both registered to vote and embraced democracy much like the former terrorists in the Palestinian territories. And if we can get "fitty" and "Game" together, certainly Hezbollah and Assad must be thinking about settling their scores and putting down the AK's.

If Mike McCurry was in the White House, this would have been another 'victory' for the administration. It would have been a Rose Garden event featuring guys who never wear anything but a white-beater T-shirt or something from Phat Farm or Roca-Wear and head scarves. Oh, I can just see the fawning press now......

No...
Heavy metal is not music anymore than RAP is..
They are both counter culture statements, melodic whineings..
Lazyness masking chaos into tunage..

They are not music anymore than Kittens put in an oven are muffins..

If the black community ever wants to be taken serioulsy, it will declare war on "black crime". 7% of the population (black males) commit 60% of the violent rapes, robberies and murders in this country.
