Any idea why most of the women at that conference were wearing black, including our two?
Ahh, thanks for the pix. Wish I'd seen the speech, I was running unavoidable errands this morning.
Evenin' Dosers!
LOL.
I loved his little comment at the conclusions of his statement with x41 and x42 today. A dig at the press, I think, in their overwrought concern for Clinton's health when Bush said "Don't worry about him too much. He's playing golf with my father tomorrow so he can't be too sick." (paraphrase)
"The trumpet of freedom has been sounded, and that trumpet never calls retreat. (Applause.)"
My favorite line in an absolutely AWESOME speech . . . (yet another) one for the history books!!
ohio, I see you and I had the same ideas for our tagline! LOL! I plan to change mine, there were several wonderful lines in that speech.
Just heard Hannity interview Schwarzenegger. He's very impressive.
Evening Deb
Evening, DrDeb. I enjoyed the article you posted last night.
He was impressive on the TV show last night.
Thanks for that birthdate info. Very interesting, both the Clintons look much older than the Bush's.
We can all guess why....
Never Call Retreat was also the title of a Civil War history by Bruce Catton.
. . . a FUN article from Jay Nordlinger:
IS THAT OPRAH? JOHNNY? DUBYA?
Friends, I attended a presidential event last Wednesday, and Id like to tell you a little about it. This was at Anne Arundel Community College, in Arnold, Md. (about eight miles outside Annapolis). Why was I there? I was going to interview Bob Ehrlich, the governor of Maryland. His day began with this presidential event at the college.
This was one of Bushs real people presentations, in which he acts as a kind of talk-show host, with ordinary citizens around him but ordinary citizens who are especially inspiring, and can make certain presidential points. Wednesdays event was focused on education and jobs. Bush had with him two exemplary students (the real people), the president of the community college, a local hospital administrator, and the governor.
Bush was 100 percent himself: folksy, engaging, quick, informed, confident, brusque, sympathetic, sort of wise-ass. I had never heard him so Texan (in speech). He might have been on the ranch, talkin to his hands. If you like the president, you loved this performance.

Hello. Thanks for the photos. Is anyone from the Tampa, FL area? Or Naples? If so, send me a freepmail. Thanks.
Somebody else recently mentioned they noticed the Texas accent in the Presidents voice sounding more pronounced.
I thought I was somebody on the Dose that made the comment, but can't recall for sure. Thought it was interesting in view of the observation of Nordlinger.
Speaking of Jean Kirkpatrick, the appointment of the apparently forthright, tough and plain-spoken John Bolton to the U.N. ambassador's position has the knickers of U.N. apologists the world over in a mighty twist. I can't wait for the Senate confirmation hearings, I'm told he just might tear them a new one.
It's like having Don Rumsfeld appointed as U.N. ambassador, and think how utterly delicious that would be.
It's amazing when one has to be well educated to understand the speeches of such a stupid man, isn't it?
It was me, prairie. I noticed on his Europe trip that I thought his Texas drawl or twang sounded more pronounced than usual. There's no doubt in my mind that he can turn that twang up or down, depending on where and who he's talking to.
"I enjoyed the article you posted last night."
If you're referring to Mark Steyn's article, you will be happy to learn that Steyn will release his first major book in April:

Yes, UN panties are in a very tight bunch over Bolton. And so are the lamestream media's. Which brings me a great deal of satisfaction. It will be interesting to see just how much resistance the RATS give in the confirmation hearings. How are they going to side with the UN against Bolton at this point in the Oil for Food and Congolese abuse scandals?
(some of them will undoubtedly find a way)
