Didn't someone remark that maybe this kidnapping was a setup by her for publicity?
Yes, and that could account for her being is such a hurry to get to the airport. If she stopped at a colition base she might be questioned and her story not hold up. Also could account for the Italians being in a rush to get her out, wanting to avoid her embarrassing their country.
