I had a pen pal who said he did not care who our president was as long as Alan Greenspan was around. Oddly, though, after he made a comment about U.S./German relations, I said that at least we don't call them names like we do the French. He hasn't written since.

By 2015 40% of Germany will be Turk. Why worry about the aging welfare staters?

While I'd say GOOD to the Islamification of the Euro-PEE-ons, the Turks are hard workers who will put the German socialist whiners to shame.

When Germans are down their kissing of... is ongoing.
When up, superiority coupled with arrogant behavior has no bounds.
Lets see how in several years down the road their current 12.1% unemployment figure plays out.
At current graduates from High Schools to Universities march straight onto the unemployment line.
The wake up call will not surface till the next generation follows joins the idleness sectors.

But a poll by the Marshall Fund showed about 60 per cent of Germans disapproved 'very much' of the Bush administration.

Has there been a poll to tell how many of us disapprove of the German government?

"It takes more than eight hours to repair a friendship." There was no friendship to repair. Schroeder and Fischer have both made careers of anti-Americanism.

One problem is that both the German and French leadership, and a lot of their population, think that their views represent all Europe. There are some places in Europe where people do not want to be led by either Germany or France.

"the encounters between Europe and America are reminiscent of a pair of lovers who are now separated"
Yeah! It seems the Deutsch can buy their own chocolate bars and nylons now. It pains me as German/Dutch American to say this but the Germans were perhaps never lovers, just whores.

I hear you. It was hard for me (as an Anglo-American) when I realized how much I detested the Brits, except for Blair.

That's the German arrogance; it's very difficult for them to conceal their disdain for people like us. They're convinced too that the way to peace in the world is to be a soft power. Of course that only works if there is a hard power behind you, but never mind that they forget that fact. They're content to be the scolding pontificators of pacifism.

There's a Tagline in there.

The best thing that could happen to Germany is for the US to move its entire military out and into Poland.

I'm pretty disappointed in those people over there. I had no idea the 20th Century took so much out of them. I say we start treating them now to an economic "Cold War." Let's bury them the way RR did the USSR. We need to let socialism play out its historical destiny (where we form a sentence out of the words "socialism," "consigned" and "rubbish heap"). In the long run, its for their own good. Kind of a "tough love" thing.
