Terror: A Tangled Web (Newsweek support for terrorist plotting to assassinate President Bush)
Newsweek International Edition ^ | Feb. 27, 2005 | Michael Isikoff

Prosecutors deny this, but even U.S. law-enforcement officials admit there is a good chance Abu Ali could eventually walk out of prison a free man. The indictment of Abu Ali shows how the administration's aggressive pursuit of the global war on terror is increasingly getting tangled up in legal constraints at home.

So for the next 20 months, Justice let Abu Ali, a U.S. citizen, languish in a Saudi jail cell. He had no access to a lawyer, and no charges were filed against him.

But is this a legitimate tactic in the war on terror? In the aftermath of September 11, the White House had resorted to even more brazen methods: it declared two other U.S. citizens, Yaser Hamdi and Jose Padilla, "enemy combatants" and threw them into military brigs without access to lawyers.

Normal Americans need to start pointing that out.

The liberal media is making excuses for the terrorists and are attacking our troops and intelligence officers for doing their job: killing and interrogating terrorists, to keep them from attacking us.

MSM is rife with RATS crying in their beer, (cause they ain't running things) and commies trying to undermine this nation.

That's the problem -- they can cry in their beer, but when they start to undermine our safety and security, something needs to be done about them -- at the very least people need to point out, that is what they are doing.

They are undermining our national security
and endangering our troops, but I suspect
that's their aim.

I remember at least three MSM "death to Bush" articles and opinion pieces just prior to the election (domestic and Britain).

The local CBS (of course) radio affiliate in Seattle has two radical liberal hosts who danced over the threat line and undoubtedly got a visit, because now they are very careful about explicit disclaimers now when their hatespeech moves in that direction (or a caller calls up and advocates harm to Bush).

The commies make no secret about what they want.

<< Liberal media [Is one of those words redundant?] are becoming more and more open in their support of terrorists. >>

I liked it better in the good old days when fifth-columnists, spies and un-uniformed combatants -- and looters, come to that [Which would have saved some of our British Allies a lot of trouble -- and prison terms -- this week, with 50 more to follow] -- could be and were shot on the spot.

This is bloody war, for Goodness sakes, not law school!

I am afraid they won't get it, until the next devastating attack.

They think it's a game, don't understand that our lives are very literally on the line.

These Bush haters need to muster their limited brainpower and think this through. God forbid if they did succeed in taking out 43 they'd end up with a very, very pissed off President Cheney. In cowboy terms this would be like trading Gary Cooper for Jack Palance.

It's called "communicating a threat" in the military. If an armed service member in the US forces gets into a shouting match and says, "I'll kill you..." he has broken the law.

This discipline should probably be extended to adult civilians. Though our soldiers are, as they should be, held to much higher standards, what's necessary for good order and conduct for our uniformed members is generally good and moral decency for our civilians.

To date, not a single prosecution of any Northern Virginia Wahabbi has resulted in acquittal. Most (including the "paintball gang") have actually pleaded guilty to federal felonies and received stiff jailtime sentences.

All of these people come out of the notorious Dar al Hijra mosque in Falls Church.

I believe you project too much of your own inherent goodness onto them -- and credit them with too much intelligence.

And I do not believe they feel it is a game.

I reckon they are consumed by and project self-loathing -- are tarred with the same evil with which we are confronted and, pathologically -- organically even -- feel we are but getting our just deserts -- and that "their side" will appreciate their help and will protect them -- and meanwhile needs every advantage they can afford it.
