Kerry Says Country Would Be "far Better Off" With His Military Proposals

WASHINGTON (AP) - Former Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, who lost decisively to President Bush in an election focused on national security, said Tuesday the country would be "far better off" with his proposals for Iraq and the military. "I think my security proposals for the country were smack on, dead on," Kerry said. "I think that had they started to do the things I proposed on Iraq when I proposed them, we would be far better off today. And they are in fact now trying to do some of the things that I proposed.

The Massachusetts senator, meeting with defense reporters, discussed legislation he plans to introduce to permanently increase the size of the military and boost benefits for military families. It's largely the same proposal that Kerry put forth during the campaign. Several similar proposals also are being floated in Congress.

Reflecting on the presidential campaign, Kerry said he had proposed "a far more effective way to make America safer." And, he said, he was "way ahead of the curve" on several areas - like the position of an intelligence chief, the creation of the commission to investigate the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks and an increase in the military death gratuity - while "the president dragged his feet."

"Americans accepted that I could be the commander in chief," he said. "What they were unwilling to do was shift commanders in midstream."

I think he's right. The country would be better off. He just never said which country. Iran, Syria, North Korea, etc.

That one was too easy.

:)

I think they were on his website. Somewhere. Or maybe John Edwards' website. Something like that.

Uh...WHICH country? France? Germany? Russia?

Certainly not this one...as spoken by me and the other 62+ million voters that rejected this war criminal elitist snob.

And by the way, how would we know what your proposals are, when you still haven't told us what they are--and everything you seem to "propose" that makes sense, the President and this Administration are already doing.

That's why, John Fing, you are sitting in the cheap seats, and the President has the floor.

"The country would be better off with my proposals" says Kerry.

Depends which country he is talking about. If he's talking about Syria, Iran, North Korea, etc., yeah they would be better off with his proposals.

Kerry reminds me of Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite. "If the coach would have put me in as quarterback in '82, we would have taken state."

Tree falling in the forest alert?

Not even his own wife cares what Kerry has to say at this point. He was humiliated this week on stage with Clinton when Clinton talked about the party following the lead of Reid, Dean and Pelosi and left him out.

Choke yourself John.

Probably on his website, before it wasn't.

Like Rush and others have said, the reason that senators don't win the presidency very often (if at all) is because they don't have principles--they have positions.

(Well, Clinton had positions too, but he was a governor, and this is a family site)

Kerry is a self-agrandizing POS.

Paul Begala said today on Imus that he and Caville were sent by Bill Clinton to help Kerry. Kerry and Mary Beth Cahill didn't want them to help. Carville cried and pitched a hissy fit. Now Begala is calling Kerry and his campaign arrogant and stupid. Begala also said that the Democrat party is in a mess.

Unfortunately, there was a misquote of Lurch here.

The quote should read:

"I think my security proposals for the country were the result of a smack on my head, to much drug use on my Swift boat, and dead on arrival," Kerry said

I love his arrogance. He still thinks he's got a chance in '08. LOL. T'ain't gonna be allowed. The remnants of the MSM will see to that as they later "find a lot of merit to the SwiftBoat vets charges" come nominating time in '07....
