The new religion is Global Warming
MichNews.com ^ | Feb 15, 2005 | Tom DeWeese

The UN finally got what it wanted. The Kyoto Climate Change treaty becomes international law this month on Wednesday. The treaty went into full effect with the approval by the Russian Federation, even without the support of the United States. Time will tell if and when the treaty will begin to affect the U.S. economy. What is certain is that truth and reason had no part in the process.

Global warming has become a new religion. No one is supposed to question whether it is a fact. I did in the December 2004 issue of The DeWeese Report (“There is no man-made global warming,” Volume 10, Issue 12). For my trouble I was labeled a “moron,” a “liar;” one who wants to “blow up the world,” and just plain “evil” to name a few from a mass of mail I received.

In particular, my article stated that there is no scientific evidence to support claims of man-made global warming. I pointed out that there is division among scientists and that there is no “consensus” among them.

I also reported that there are scientists who promote political agendas over truth to keep the grants coming in. And I said that the UN’s 1996 report issued by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was edited at the last minute to remove two very important paragraphs that specifically said science showed no clear evidence of man-made climate change. Those were all facts.

DeWeese has hit the nail on the head: Global Warming is the newest strategy that the UN (Annan) will try to use to take control of the US.

Expect to see a number of punitive measures enacted by the world body of morons against countries (US) that don't recognize Kyoto. IMO, this will finally begin to shed light on just how much junk science Kyoto is based.

Anti-American countries will gleefully pass UN resolutions to punish the US but the end result will hurt all of them. It cannot be said often enough - get the US out of the UN and get the UN out of the US!!

Let them go practice their voodoo science in someplace like Haiti where they appreciate voodoo.

Yep! I live in Thailand and the temp. today is 92 F. but
within the next two days it will be 95 F.

Damn, that's fast!

Look, it goes up, it goes down. Man may and I expect has
some effect on it but so does the natural evolution of the
earth.

One could say that at some point, this is all going to end as
we know it.

Well it already has even in my life time so get a grip folk.

Have a good ride.

Now don't be feeding the New York Times on ideas for front page stories.

How long before the unfair trade practices are taken to the WTO? It isn't fair that the US does not have to meet the same restricions that we (Europe) does.

I'm currently reading Michael Chrichton's "State of Fear", and now I feel like I'm living the book. Creepy.

Let's face it: global warming is a fact, as best we can tell, with the ending of the Little Ice Age, the dearth of especially explosive volcanoes since Pinatubo (1992), the ever-underestimated strengthening sun, and a relatively minor contribution from anthropogenic sources. The anthropogenic contribution is mostly confined to highly urbanized localities and artificially denuded terrain and drained wetlands.

It is largely absent, surprisingly, in Alaska, which has experienced no significant net warming since 1978 (nor any net warming in 1948-76). The intense warming in Alaska, often cited in the liberal press, actually confined in the mean to 1976-78, results exclusively from the regular periodicity of a unusually amplified Pacific Decadal Oscillation. The general absence--and frequent ignorance--of meteorological data from the previous positive phase before the Second World War causes the media to proclaim a "trend" based solely upon one half of an oscillation, analogous to proclaiming sea-level rise when the crest of a wave slamming the shore is higher than its trough.

Less familiar to Americans is the rapid drying of the African Sahel and Soudan circa 1968, with precipitation dropping by a factor of two or worse, resulting in great poverty and crop failures. This phenomenon is related to a well-documented multi-decadal oscillation in Atlantic hurricane activity.

http://www.spacedaily.com/news/pollution-05b.html

This article notes that global warming will be increased if/when China cuts sulfur dioxide emmissions. Apparently, the man-made pollution in China ends up fertilizing the ocean. This facilitates photosynthesis and carbon-dioxide uptake-- meaning Mother Nature is taking a greenhouse gas out of the atmosphere, big time:

"It appears that the recipe of adding pollution to mineral dust from East Asia may actually enhance ocean productivity and, in so doing, draw down atmospheric carbon dioxide and reduce global warming," Chameides said.

A good read if you're into facts and science.

"Let them go practice their voodoo science in someplace like Haiti where they appreciate voodoo."

The UN actions in Haiti have destroyed it. It reminds me of the Nam canard, "We had to destroy the village to save it".

Haiti needs a complete reforestation program, or it will never recover. We are the only ones that can do it, but are distracted by the War on Terror. However, Haiti is now a haven for drug lords and drug smuggling operations. We need to get on top of the situation there. I am surprised France has not been more compassionate LOL. Haiti's long term problems make the tsunami mild by comparison.

If we chose the year 1,000 as the starting point instead of 1850 for a global temperatures, then we have global cooling. Around 1,000 B.C. the Vikings had thriving agriculture in Greenland.

Geological evidents also points out that the Earth is normally in long (approximately 100,000 year) ice ages. These warm periods are usually short 10,000 to 15,000 years and we are near or just past the peak of the current warm period.

And that was my whole point. The UN has yet to find anything that they do well . . . . . . . I mean anything besides opposing America for everything and propping up tyrants, oppressors and tinhorn war lords.

"And that was my whole point."

I understand. I was reinforcing your view that the UN is destructive. I would hope we can get them out of Haiti before it is too late.

Sorry. I wasn't clear. I knew that you were reinforcing my point, I was just being chatty this morning and wanted to add a few more un-PC comments about the UN.

BTW, I was quite pleased that you did get my point about the UN and Haiti.

Thanks, shubi. Have a great day.

Dusty
