Call me a dumb bunny, but what on earth does the Chicago Haymarket riots and the end of the Civil War have to do with each other?

I recommend Arthur Herman's biography for a look at the real man and the true story. If you need more proof after reading that, drag yourself through The Black Book of Communism, essentially a compendium of the Venona decrypts from the Kremlin archives.
There's a bit of revisionist history here, too. There's no question that Reds had infiltrated the State Department and other agencies. But there's little evidence McCarthy had firsthand knowledge.
Because people think the events leading up to the Civil War, and the forces driving Anarchism (Communism) are two completely different things. I'm just saying that the dynamics of the Civil War and Reconstruction LED TO the rise of communism in the USA. The pattern couldn't be seen until after the Russian Revolution, and it still isn't recognized today by the left.
btw I'm not sure I disagree with Lincoln's jailing of seditionists and traitors, especially in the Congress.
He was trying to flush them out, right?
bump
..He's dead, Jim.
They just can't expunge the terms of their communist foundation.
>>>But there's little evidence McCarthy had firsthand knowledge.
On what do you base that statement??? Haven't you ever read the Transcripts of McCarthys committee?
He had Paul Crouch, a top functionary of the Communist Party, testify and exposed communists in influential positions.

No one said McCarthy overlooked the obvious.
Not really a fair comparison, however. From a pure artistic talent standpoint, Moore is a piss ant compared to Miller, even though both worship at the feet of tyranny.
I don't know about McCarthy's firsthand knowledge, but Roosevelt knew about Alger and Donald Hiss as early as 1939. He was personally informed by Adolf Berle, Roosevelt's Assistant Secretary of State in charge of security. For more info on this see Whittaker Chambers' "Witness," (1980)esp. pp. 463-471
Thanks for posting this.
I'm confused by your point. You said:
>>>But there's little evidence McCarthy had firsthand knowledge.
I just gave you the transcript to the testimonies he had from his committee.
McCarthy did have evidence and FIRSTHAND knowledge. He is the one that got Paul Crouch to testify.
So what do you mean by, "No one said McCarthy overlooked the obvious."
good post.
as an undergrad, miller's death of a salesman was assigned. i didn't think it was such a great book. later i realized it was part of the hidden agenda of the left to indoctrinate students against american business.
the los angeles times has never reckoned with this myth. the times still celebrates the obits of mccarthy era writers with 2/3-page honors, never admitting that they were communists.
nor, hollywood--no movie on the demise of the soviet union has been produced.
