Washington Times ^ | February 10, 2005 | Stephanie Mansfield

Fewer visitors than expected have dropped by the much-ballyhooed, $165 million Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark., since its November gala opening, but one VIP has been trying to make up for that: President Clinton himself. "I understand he's here regularly," says Todd Scholl, director of marketing for Little Rock's Peabody Hotel. And what does the former president do? "That's a good question," says Mr. Scholl. . .

I did a search but apparently this knee-slapper hasn't been posted yet . . .

Mr. Leopoulos says Mr. Clinton "loved" his old job. "If he could be president again tomorrow, he would be."

Well, doh! And is it just me or does anyone else want to puke whenever these people refer to the Presidency as "a job"?

Whether it's nostalgia for his days in the White House, Mr. Clinton told Mr. Rutherford that "he wants to spend several hours just by himself" roaming the library, which houses the largest collection of presidential papers and artifacts in the United States.

Reminds me of the accounts of Elvis walking around funeral homes looking at dead bodies.

So Skippy Rutherford appropriated (stole) prime Little Rock park land to build a monument (with Marc Rich's stolen dollars) where Clinton can come and roam in solitude. pretending he is still Pres. From the attendance figures, that would appear to be the sole utility of the property. But I still think errecting a double wide on a Superfund site might have been cheaper.

I'll bet it's all pimped out too. Ick.

From the article I get the sense that clinton is chasing around from here to there in search of what's left of his fawning admirers, clueless that he is no longer relevant.

Have they opened the "Monica Wing" yet.?

I heard that the Gift Shoppe will be selling Berets, Pre-Stained Blue Dresses (Several Sizes) and KneePads.

The "Monica Wing" is next to the Juanita Broaddrick ice dispenser near the Chinese take-out.

"It's awesome," says David Leopoulos, a boyhood friend of Mr. Clinton's. "Stereo, big-screen TV, lots of technology. It's really neat."

So he even has his own personal "ass kisser" there as well.

I'll bet there's a lot of empty MD 20-20 bottles, KFC fried chicken bones and Kool cigarette butts all over the apartment from Bubba's stable of old Little Rock hookers. Oh, I know he doesn't participate now, just watches, hehehe.

I almost get the impression that if I stopped by the Clinton Lie-brary, I'd be greeted at the door by Old Slickory himself, get an interminable personal guided tour that would be excruciatingly self-justifying, and then he'd want me to stick around afterwards just to have someone to talk to (or, perhaps, talk at).

And people thought Nixon's post WH years were sad...

"It was a hoot," Mr. Leopoulos says.

How old is this guy? I find it strange that a 12 year old could also be one of Slick's "boyhood friend".

Maybe the Peabody can hire Slick to herd the ducks in and out of their fountain every day.

Although the library originally said it had drawn more than 100,000 visitors in the first six weeks of its opening, the National Archives and Records Administration, which operates the library, told U.S. News & World Report that only 42,045 visitors actually paid the $7 to enter. The rest of the visitors were VIPs, journalists and other nonpaying guests.

Hmmm...the 42% who put Slick in office, twice!
