Janeane Garofalo makes a Nazi salute on MSNBC to mock Republicans who dipped their fingers in paint

Actress and liberal talk-radio host Janeane Garofalo is taking issue with congressional Republicans who dipped their fingers in ink for President Bush's State of the Union speech as a sign of solidarity with Iraqi voters, likening it to a Nazi salute.

Garofalo actually made the salute last night as she provided post-speech commentary on MSNBC's "After Hours" program.

"The inked fingers was disgusting," said Garofalo, who is one of the hosts on the Air America radio network.

"The inked fingers and the position of them, which is gonna be a Daily Show photo already, of them signaling in this manner [Nazi salute], as if they have solidarity with the Iraqis who braved physical threats against their lives to vote as if somehow these inked-fingered Republicans have something to do with that."

Iraqi citizens who voted in last weekend's elections dipped their fingers in colored paint to indicate they had voted.

During numerous standing ovations, television cameras showed many members of Congress displaying a finger which had been dipped in blue paint, as a sign of solidarity with the Iraqis who braved violence over the weekend to cast their ballots for the first time in a post Saddam Hussein-era.

"This blue finger is a sign of incredible courage on the part of the Iraqi people," House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said after the speech, noting the paint stays on for a week in Iraq.

As I said on another thread, she must mean besides taking out Saddam Hussein and ending the tyranny in that country while she was screaming about "war for oil".

Bloated little gargoyle. I'd love to be a fly on the wall if she ever crossed paths with an Iraqi-American that voted and lost family to Saddam's terror machine.

Nice to see she stayed above the "partisanship" she accused the Republicans of.

What does she mean, no comparison. We had to brave her spittle as we went to vote. (I don't have cable; is she still foaming at the mouth?)

The saddest thing about Garofalo (besides the fact that she is homely) is that she isn't even a 'has-been'. She's the classic definition of a 'never-was'.

Curious from at least two angles.First this was support for democracy not Islamo-facist naziism. She directly goes opposite due to inability to understand and further muddies the water.Again it shows a cute face or engaging individual is not able to conduct themselves in matters over their head when they have an agenda.

""The inked fingers was disgusting," said Garofalo..."

Sure, it was disgusting...TO HER.

But her "disgust" lies in the fact that Bush's plan seems to be working. Surely, a party who's members thrill over aborting a baby, or delight in calling a crucifix in a jar of urine, "ART", is disgusted by anything that might threaten their perverted way of life.

Wasn't Dracula disgusted by the sign of a cross?

It's time we started a "SIT DOWN & STFU" campaign to these clowns...they're promoting evil personified, and won't stop until they are stopped.

While I don't agree with her overall point and think that the gesture was well intentioned, I do kind of agree that American's shouldn't be painting their fingers purple to show solidarity. The Iraqis braved a lot of risk to get their purple fingers (as did their kids, who didn't vote but did dip their fingers in the ink). Most American's haven't. It's like a Purple Heart. I'd never think of wearing a Purple Heart to show solidarity with the wounded soldiers in Iraq because wearing that medal is something you earn. It's not just a symbol. I feel the same way about the purple finger, though I don't hold any ill will toward those who feel otherwise.

She should be good at giving the Nazi salute, after all the left runs to fascism faster than anyone. When the don't like what people say they try to shut them up by what ever means possible. If that means lying about an issue or personally attacking someone, they do it so easily. By trying to link others to fascist tendencies they bely their own.
