Promiscuity of any variety is hygienically unsafe. While condoms reduce the risk of transmission of some disease agents, they do not reduce the risk of transmission of others, and they reduce the risk of transmission of none of them to zero.

I don't get it either. However, some believe condom use is not masculine. Or the condom is a barrier to intimacy.

The unmasculine complaint is a cultural precept in the black community. Others grasp onto urban mythology, complaining they can't "feel" anything when using a condom--probably because they buy the cheapest unlubricated thing they can find at 3 for $1 or whatever.

I've heard WOMEN say condom use is like taking a shower with your socks on.

All sexual activity has this risk. As you mention, condoms are not foolproof since they cover such a relatively small area while the "disease agents" cover a much larger area of the pelvic / genital region.
