BOSTON, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- The co-author of a book accusing Democratic presidential nominee John F. Kerry of embellishing his war record plans to run against him for U.S. Senate.
Jerome Corsi, who, with retired Navy Lt. John O'Neill, is credited as the co-author of "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry," said he plans to move to Massachusetts later this year as the first step in his 2008 campaign for the U.S. Senate seat now held by Kerry.
"I'm going to do it," Corsi said. "I've got serious political aspirations now."
The book, described by Publishers Weekly as a "heated critique" of Kerry's military record and anti-war activities, spent weeks as a best seller and is credited with causing considerable damage to Kerry's presidential aspirations.
Corsi, who currently lives in New Jersey, said he would prefer to run as the Republican but, if party leaders chose not to get behind his candidacy, he would run as an independent.
Kerry spokesman David Wade declined to comment, the Boston Herald said Tuesday, saying the senator was focused on his work.

There might be an opening. It's looking like Corzine is fixing to buy the NJ governorship in '08. Any NJ'rs know who the current republican front runners are? I'm given to understand the New Jersey repub party is sufficiently moribund that an energetic individual with some name recognition could concievably step right in.

Just to have him tailing Kerry is worth it.

I think that Doug Forrester and Bret Schundler are the only two candidates who are committed to running, at the moment.
The race is probably going to get significantly more crowded as the year wears on.

Yea.

Sounds like Kerry's worst nightmare. But... I hope it doesn't stop someone who has a real chance.

I'd love to see that debate.
To: BulletBobCo
No debate will happen - Corsi will be called an anti-semite and anti-catholic based on statements he made on here (fair or not) and in Mass. that is a death sentence for elective office.

Laughingstock alert. Love what Corsi did before, but this is dopey, and his candidacy will be ridiculed out of existence. Of course, he may try to raise money throughout the country, but until there are term limits, or the Grim Reaper gets off his ass, Kerry and Kennedy will continue to run, and continue to be reelected by "the state that has never failed to elect a Kennedy, no matter how many women they kill or rape."

See,
Cacique. I told you that those incendiary comments, posted to FreeRepublic, would doom your presidential exploratory committee.
To: PDR
Given that Governor Romney is unlikely to run against Kerry in the 2008 Senate race, Corsi would be as good a candidate as any. In ultraliberal Massachusetts, our only chance of beating Kerry is to let voters see that Kerry is a traitor to his country.

You're absolutely correct. There is no way this will work and it will also make Corsi's 'colorful' postings here on FR a national issue that could work to discredit the SwiftVets.
I don't like this at all. There have to be better candidates that would be willing to run on this platform. Corsi would get creamed and would also call attention to himself, which isn't the best of scenarios for the SwiftVets.

Found it:
Check out the incredible anti-Semitism of Jerome R. Corsi, PhD, the co-author of Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry
Corsi has admitted to posting under the handle "jrlc" at FreeRepublic.com from whence these hate-filled statements come. From "Media Matters for America" [via Kevin Drum]:
Corsi on "John F*ing Commie Kerry": "After he married TerRAHsa, didn't John Kerry begin practicing Judiasm? He also has paternal grandparents that were Jewish. What religion is John Kerry?" (There goes the Jewish vote)
Corsi on Islam: "a worthless, dangerous Satanic religion" (I agree with that one-but not exaclty senatorial vocabulary)
Corsi on Catholicism: "Boy buggering in both Islam and Catholicism is okay with the Pope as long as it isn't reported by the liberal press" (I don't agree with that one and won't win over Boston's Catholic Irish and Italians and Spanish, etc.)
Corsi on Muslims: "RAGHEADS are Boy-Bumpers as clearly as they are Women-Haters -- it all goes together" (Not exactly senatorial vocabulary)
