By ensuring that the government actually presents a case and that the evidence presented is true and obtained in a way that does not violate the principles outlined in the constitution / other rules of evidence.
I know that this is a "fine line" argument. It is also a reason that I would never BE a lawyer. My original intent in posting that was to say that Wesley the Weasel could have just limited himself to this type of statement, but chose instead to pontificate about the war in Iraq and make baseless claims.

We'd support Hitler getting a fair trial. What irks the American public is that a former US Atty. General takes on an odious celebrity client, when he could be more constructive by leaving the job to someone else.
We understand you are a communist and are anti-American Ramsey. Now please quit beating us over the head with it.
