I myself wouldn't want to be kept in a cold-weather facility.

What's with the Chicago bashing?

They killed Peaches.

Grendel9, this story touches on two of my favorite places in this country.

San Diego is my favorite city in the US. The climate and geography is just stunning, as well as all of the cultural opportunities. A wonderful place. I am sorry Peaches had to leave such a beautiful place.

My second favorite place is Chicago. It is a wonderful city, with an energy that I've never felt anywhere else in the US. I love the Shedd Aquarium, Michigan Avenue, walking by the Chicago River, Navy Pier, and the architecture! No city like it.

LOL!

The story does lend itself to parody.

The animals are well cared for and have terrific meals that some humans could envy. Need I add that I'm one of them and have been for years?

Thank you for the personal testimony. Which one are you?:D

Well, after I'm dead I'll go there so I can continue to vote.

Are in you in Chicago today? Do you need a jacket? You wouldn't if you were here....

"They sent them to about the coldest place they could send them," Katz said. "It was just a death sentence. They dumped them there, knowing full well that they were just going to dramatically shorten their lives."

And yet Maggie an African Elephant from Zimbabwe, Africa has lived in the Anchorage Alaska Zoo since 1983.

Life is a death sentence.

I don't blame them for sending her to Chicago. Can you you imagine having to dig that grave?

"Well, after I'm dead I'll go there so I can continue to vote."

I haven't heard of that happening in quite some time. Not that this is city has an ethical government -- it's just that that particular excess seems to have gone the way of Daley the Dodo.

Yeah, it's pretty cold today. And snowy. Basically a blizzard. But I'll take this blizzard because I do love this town, all things considered.
