WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Rush Limbaugh and the American Civil Liberties Union do not agree about much, but they are in accord that the conservative radio commentator's medical records should be off-limits to prosecutors.
The Florida ACLU filed court papers yesterday supporting Limbaugh's argument that investigators violated his constitutional right to privacy when they seized his medical records in November to investigate whether he violated drug laws when he purchased prescription painkillers.
"It may seem odd that the ACLU has come to the defense of Rush Limbaugh," the state chapter's executive director, Howard Simon, said in a statement. "But we have always said that the ACLU's real client is the Bill of Rights, and we will continue to safeguard the values of equality, fairness, and privacy for everyone, regardless of race, economic status, or political point of view."

This could (I don't know, and no one can really be sure) also relate to their overwhelming urge to protect abortion. If a prosecutor could get Rush's records, could that be a precedent for parents getting their children's records from a clinic?

Yeah, the KKK "proof of pure intent" was starting to get a little old. They needed something newer to prop up their crochety old credibility.
I say it's good news. It's becoming more and more obvious that Rush's case was political and not criminal.
Why would Rush need help from the ACLU?
If the ACLU does well by him, I doubt Rush will have anything negative to say about much that the ACLU says or does for a long time to come. Not only that, he might even try to temper whatever others have to say.
So, maybe the ACLU saw this as an excellent opportunity to stifle a lot of the criticism Rush and a few million dittoheads might have otherwise levied in the near future.
