"A couple of things to point out. First, President Bush lost the state by about 12,000 votes. Second, there are now more registered voters in Milwaukee than there are adults in Milwaukee."

Wow that's a neat trick.

Is he in jail yet? If not, why not?

The DA in Milwaukee is a democrat. No investigation was done, no charges were field. Marquette University (located in Milwaukee and home of the flapping turkeys or golden eagles or some such) had lots of multiple voters and illegals voting in Wisconsin. No one did anything about it.

(I graduated from Marquette when they were still the warriors, before the politically correct spineless liberals took completely over. The entire institution can fall to the ground before they'll see another dime of my money)

(sales vs property taxes)

Apples and oranges. A sales tax is specifically incurred by the changing of hands of the item. That is, no tax is due until the item is sold. So the buyer incurs the tax by the act of buying. The merchant is responsible for reporting that tax as that is the easiest way to collect it but the legal obligation is on the buyer. That is why you are required to report mail order purchases you've made and pay the tax on them (although few if any do, in most states that is the law)

A property tax is charged to the OWNER of the property. If he chooses to raise rents or not is totally up to him and is not required by the tax law

Homeowners were a distinct minority in that town - maybe one-third of the residents. What were you saying about politicians doing the will of their constituents? Or are some constituents more equal than others?

Homeowners are permanent residenst students are merely transients. I'd support a three year residency requirement before voting. Of course I'd also support a landowner requirement to vote as it was when this country was founded.

Transients have no interest in the continuing prosperity of the community, they just want to rape it for all it's worth and then move on.

Note to DUmmies - this is now a criminal investigation (and one that won't necessarily be buried, because it isn't just E. Michael McCan't on the case).
