So Peter King is a boxer. We've always known that the Republican congressman from Seaford is combative. Now an entertaining story by Newsday's J. Jioni Palmer reveals that King is throwing literal as well as rhetorical punches. We hope the cardiovascular benefit outweighs the ill effect of too many jolts to the head. In any case, when he disagrees with us in the future, we can simply ascribe his scrambled thinking to pugilistic dementia.

Interesting phrase there by Newsday, as if it were the polititians job to agree or disagree with their position on issues!
Newsday has it all backwards ... its the job of the press to agree or disagree with a politicians position on issues, not the other way around ....
...... but not before tossing out a personal attack on King:
"we can simply ascribe his scrambled thinking to pugilistic dementia"
What ARROGANCE, ehhh ???
I'll never forgive Peter King.
Long Island's only Republican Congressman is nothing to write home about, or even an article.
I didnt read the entertaining story.
The name doesnt ring a bell offhand, so Id say if hes a boxer hes an amateur. Could be wrong, I guess Then again, if hes a representative hes probably a little long in the tooth to be a serious amateur.
Actually, people dont believe it but the last stats I remember seeing (00 or 01) listed amateur boxing as safer than football, baseball, basketball, soccer, swimming, gymnastics, and even tennis, in terms of injuries suffered. Then again there are a lot less people doing it WRT the others, I suppose.
Id guess that if hes a boxer, hes doing it for recreational purposes rather than having designs on a career.
That pretty-much rules out any sort of pugilistic dementia because he isnt going to be taking any hits of importance.
It shows ignorance on the part of the person writing the article because any reputable gym doesnt just throw people together to flail away. Theyll match up an inexperienced boxer with a much more experienced partner.
Youre not at a level where youll be able to hurt your partner and hell be pulling punches so as not to hurt you because you did something dumb.
At any rate, even a moderate recreational amateur boxer should be able to take a reporter from Newsday, IMO.
And yes, the cardiovascular benefit will put a semi-serious amateur in the lower-realm of collegiate wrestlers which is damned impressive, if youve ever done that sort of thing.
He's a dirtbag who supports terrorists
