Diego Garcia is a island that bases UK and US forces. This base is critical for the US to project a presence in middle Asia. Our B-2 and B-52 bombers were based there during the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.

BTW, there is also an small indigenous population.

The island is secure and felt no ill effects from the tsunami.
