I stopped boycotting Heinz quite a while ago after reading a letter from the corporation which stated their position on the candidates. The letter also distanced itself from the Heinz-Kerry family. A food thing in my opinion, and a reason to support this company. (;o)

I was doing the Heinz boycott too, but they supported Pubbies.

Heinz ketchup is the best. I'm glad they are in the "Red" zone. Recall that Theresa was married to a Republican when she inherited the Heinz fortune. The company should not be punished for her apostasy.

Whenever some nut takes you to task for buying something from a certain company, do what I do...ask them to list every single thing they've bought over the past year, including stores bought from and companies involved in the manufacturing, marketing and selling of all said products. Then ask them to guarantee that every bit of their money spent did not go to any Democratic or liberal causes. Shuts 'em up fairly quickly.

I'm not much for ketchup, but my loved ones tell me it is the best. Their apple cider vinegar is really good. I had bought another brand in my boycotting frenzy. It was awful. I'm glad to be back to Heinz. (:o)

Thanks for the post, Notch.
It bears out the contention that Murdoch's News people are solidly based in Democratic roots and ideology. He hasn't changed any of his spots. He's just wisely making money out of the pockets of the reds while giving the return to the blue interests.
Either end of the stick (Dem or Rep) remains the same stick.
Put otherwise, "Not a dime's worth of difference". Hypocrisy still reigns!

I know...

another thread a certain individual was taking me to task over my Levi jeans.

I wear them because they fit, but according to him, that makes me pro-homo and yadda yadda yadda...

Kind of funny...

and since he is stalking me, I am sure we will see an appearance here soon too...

I run Windows, I support capitalism. If Microsoft can't see where their best interests are, that's not my problem.

I've refused to buy HP for 7 years anyway, just because they have possibly the worst built machines ever made.

IBM? I like IBM, we wouldn't be at the technological point we're at now without them. If they want to donate to Dems, fine, I think they've done enough good to warrant a pass on it.

Intel can kiss it though, I've been refusing to give them a dollar for their overpriced, underpowered, falsely advertised chips for 3 years now. AMD gets my money.

Don't even get me started on Macs. If I ever say I want to go spend 4 times the amount of money on a machine that has about 1/10th the versatility of a Windows-based syndrome, do me a favor and lock me away in the loony bin.

My computer was built by iBP, so no HP or the like got my money. =)

That's cool. at least you can see what the boycotting of everything would do to 99% of everyone on here.

I gotta disagree somewhat with the MACS. My mother runs a small newspaper on her 3 Macs, 2 G4s and an older G3. Since the work is so graphics heavy, the MACS do this perfectly.

Other than that, MACS suck you are correct....

You've done your time, buy what you want. As for me and my family, a little sacrifice on our part is no big deal. I support boycotting the libs, and if I have time and their 800# I usually call and tell them. BTW, Thank you for your service to our country.

I am just a contractor, but thanks :)

I don't have the time or the energy right now to even worry about it. I gotta go with what works whether it be liberal conservative or alien.....

Yea, we'd really only hurt ourselves and look like idiots if we got really obsessed with the boycotting and refused to buy anything from anyone who ever supported Democrats. It's not that easy, and we'd just end up missing a ton of stuff and making our own lives rougher. Heck, even the lib-loonies can't boycott EVERYTHING Republican (although I'm sure many try). Whether we like it or not, our two sides of the aisle have a somewhat symbiotic relationship, and we're gonna be coexisting for a while. IBM may be run by Democrats, but they're Democrats who made their contribution to the world.

When it comes to organizations I already dislike though, hell yeah!

HP - Screw you
Apple - Screw you
Starbucks - Screw you (Just because I'm so sick of seeing you EVERYWHERE I GO!!)

Call me a low-class red state redneck, but I'll still take a cheap cup of coffee from the local convience store before I drink that overpriced swill.

I don't think it would bother me so much, though, if there wasn't a Starbucks every 25 feet wherever you go.

I was staying in New York City on a short vacation with my girlfriend in the summer, and we literally spotted places where there were two or three Starbucks on the same street block!! Before we even got to the next corner!! WTF?!?!?!

Haven't tried a Mac for a while, have you? They're a lot better now. I had the same argument against em 5 years ago. Then OS X came out. It's great.

OS X is a significant advancement, but I've been following their progress, and I still can't believe they want to charge $1500 for their base-model Power Mac G5. Go to www.iBuyPower.com and see what you can put together for $1500 there. You'd be amazed.

I applaud Apple for trying to mainstream Mac, but it is still viable for graphics work and nothing else.
