HOUSTON (AP) - Andrea Yates' murder convictions for drowning her children should be overturned because the state's expert witness gave false testimony about working on an episode of "Law and Order," her attorneys told a state appeals court Tuesday.
Yates was sentenced to life in prison in the 2001 deaths of three of her children after jurors rejected her insanity defense. She was not tried in the deaths of the other two.
Psychiatrists testified that Yates suffered from schizophrenia and postpartum depression.
Her attorneys told a three-judge panel of the state's First Court of Appeals that she deserves a new trial because of 19 errors that were committed in her 2002 trial.

They should have executed her already. Perhaps OJ Simpson is going to help her look for the real killer.

This is Texas, not California. She's a goner.

They should hold her head underwater until she starts to drown, revive her, and then do again and again every day that she remains on earth breathing the air that her dear children will never breathe again.

19 errorsThose other 18 had better have a little more substance than a false statement about working on Law and Order.

Andrea doesn't play golf.
Did you hear Rush today? He said he concluded Peterson was guilty because he never vowed to "find the real killers"! I bout drove off the road.
He also gave Scott an idea for his appeals. Prepartum depression.

Andrea Yates showed little reaction to the news that she was spared the death penalty and sentenced to life in prison Friday.
We don't execute prisoners in Texas unless they are given the death penalty by the jury!

Rush sure had it all wrong condemning the jurors. Insisting they were for conviction because Scott wasn't remorseful.
When a caller tried to tell Rush that their comments were in response to media questions he would have none of it....had to stick to his opinion, which was WRONG.

I would hope that they are saving those 2 murder charges as backup in case she gets her current convictions overturned.

I think that the State should require Scott Peterson to marry Andrea Yates. Seems like a good match, a fertile white woman mass murderer and Harold Ickes/Terry McAuliffe/Billary a promiscuous fertilizer salesman.

The ex is just as nutty as she is. But she is still guilty of murder. She should pay with her life. He's lucky he got off scot free.

Haven't been a Rush fan for a long time. The radio is usually on as background noise until Rush says something irksome, then I turn it off and listen to music.

I agree...I wish we had a guilty but insane option in Texas..She clearly demonstrated she knew what she did was wrong by her call to 911...but she was also clearly insane..Her husband has my contempt..

Whoops...... my bad
The jury didn't accept the insanity defense and found her guilty of capital murder but chose life rather than death... sheesh don't know what I was thinking. I guess it was about the one up in East Texas that killed her children with rocks... I think that jury bought the insanity defense.

She stood and watched as her little boys were going down in the car. How very sad for those little ones to see their mother and not help them. I have no sympathy for this woman. She killed her children. The one they trusted the most is the one that killed them and in such a hideous way. She deserves to stay in jail for the rest of her life.

Oh, they are?
Well, any way the poor woman lost her children, have a heart.

I think you have Andrea Yates confused with Susan Smith, who drowned her two young boys in her car.
Andrea Yates is the monster who drowned her five little children, one by one, in the bathtub.

If they do retry her, is it possible that the nasty scank will get what she deserves- the death penalty? If that is a strong possibility then I'm all for retrying that @#$$%#$# waste of human tissue.

She isn't going anywhere but the Skyview Unit in Rusk, Texas. Texans don't execute people that are insane.

Why is it that of all the people on death row, only Timothy McVeigh actually had his sentence carried out within 4 years, while everyone else takes 20?

No she was not found insane... she was found GUILTY of murder. The jury chose to give her life instead of the death penalty.
