The Left's philosopher's stone seems to be equality of outcome as directed by the State. This is not possible, and the pursuit of such lunacy leads only to sickness, hatred and death. Those rooted in the reality principle forgo such cloud cuckoo land schemes, to the dismay of the Lefty loonies, who equate the Right's good sense with greed and bigotry. It's really quite a phenomenon.

The Liberals are incorporating themselves into the Republican party, leaving the outright socialists to run the Democrats. It happens all the time, politicians flock to winners, and the winners want to keep on winning so they will compromise base principles to stay in power. What will be strange, is when the Conservatives begin the process to the Democrat party. It will happen, just a matter of time.

"It happens all the time, politicians flock to winners, and the winners want to keep on winning so they will compromise base principles to stay in power."

Oh no, they never do this.
Rather, the base principle of most politicians is to stay in power and win. They are willing to compromise YOUR base principles in order to serve their own. Arlen Specter, for example, cares a whole lot more about remaining Senator Arlen Specter, the powerful Chairman of the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee, than he cares about abortion either way. He may have an honest opinion on abortion, but it ain't a core principle to him. Staying Senator Specter is his core principle.
Und so weiter with most of the rest of them.

Rather than bemoaning it, folks whose core principles are affected by politicians need to work within the framework of that reality, and make their particular segment of the electorate an indispensible voting bloc for a number of key politicians. This way, in order to protect THEIR core principle of staying in power, the politicians find it most expedient to protect YOUR core principle, of [INSERT CORE PRINCIPLE HERE].
