It's a modern sort of thing, like a gay activist leading the fight against AIDS or a reformed drunk teaching traffic school.

Same era! I fought my way through
pooh bur tee watching American Bandstand. Lived in North Jersey and remember when some of my classmates made the pilgramge to Philly and actually made it on the show!!!
Of course I was torn between Mickey Mouse Club and Dick Clark. who could forget those Mouseketeers, especially my heart throb Annette.
Yup he was once asked about his youthful demeanor. He mentioned that longevity was a hallmark of his family.
God Bless you Dick!

Of course I was torn between Mickey Mouse Club and Dick Clark. who could forget those Mouseketeers, especially my heart throb Annette. I watched both shows also. Bandstand when it was out of Philly and on after school. As to the MMC, I always liked Darlene.
But alas she hasn't faired well of late with her personal life and the police.
But I REALLY did LOL at your "pooh bur tee".
Because for the life of me I can't pronounce that stoo-pid word correctly, my tongue turns into knots. I could NEVER say it right. Kind of like noo-clee-er for some people I guess.

I used to watch American Bandstand back in '55. Damn, when did I get old? Probably sometime in the 1980s. :)

f only we had elected Kerry and Edwards, Christopher Reeve would be out of his wheelchair(coffin), and Dick Clark would never die! Dick Clark WILL Never Die! Not as long as Rock and Roll lives. As we know, "Rock and Roll will Never Die", at least according to Danny and The Juniors, who are still Rocking, Wolf Man Jack, and other such sages of the age.

I was in grade school with Merry Holiday. We had a Melody Tune. Her brother's name was even worse, but more forgettable.

who could forget those Mouseketeers, especially my heart throb Annette. You too? Of course it got better when she started doing the "Beach Party" movies, although her suit was always the most modest, although the way she filled it out more than made up for the lack of skin.

An update from the link:
"The doctors tell me I should be back in the swing of things before too long, so I'm hopeful to be able to make it to Times Square to help lead the country in bringing in the New Year once again," said Clark in a statement.

Prayers for Dick, the timeless teenager. Hope this isn't too serious a stroke.

Several of Beach balnket movies have shown on AMC and Starz. In fact the "Return to the Beach" flick where Frankie and Annette return to the beach to check up on their daughter who is GULP! living with a surfer was on last week.
I was perusing some cheap DVDs at the 99 cent store and bought a copy of "Beach Blanket Bingo!" My 17 year old watched it to try to understand "the old man" Now she understands my love for the Beach Boys, Gidget and all things romantic about that era. I was a lifeguard on the Jersey shore and well....surfed some but the waves rarely got higher than 2'. Oh well!
