Excellent choice. Nothing like a good, conservative NY cop to shake things up.

Tell that to the TWA 800 victims.

*********

Please explain. I don't understand your response.

I heard the announcement as I was driving home from work and I cheered a bigtime "Yes!!!!" I admire Bernard Kerik immensely; he's a fine and capable man. Great move!

Kerik's a GREAT choice. He's tough, intelligent, disciplined and already immured to media antics.

If ANYONE knows how thankless a job this is and just how many morons will demand an immeiade public statement from him every time a small plane goes down or there's a pileup on the freeway, it's a NYPC.

Ridge never stood a chance. The democrats, along with those third partiests who thought he was gonna tap their phones and steal their bongs successfully ruined any mandate he would have had in order to do his job.

Kerik has one other advantage besides being a great cop : he doesn't have to wait until the democrats allow the DHS to exist before taking his post.

Is he really pro gun control or following the company line (NYC) to keep his employment?

From Fox News

Kerik Picked for DHS Post

WASHINGTON — President Bush will nominate former New York City police commissioner Bernard Kerik (search) as the next secretary for homeland security, FOX News confirmed Thursday.

[snip]

If confirmed by the Senate, Kerik, who was chosen to train the Iraqi police force after Saddam Hussein's departure, will be responsible for running a collection of 22 disparate federal agencies with more than 180,000 employees. One administration official told FOX News that Kerik is a good choice because he has overseen a large law enforcement organization and particularly understands the needs of first responders.

Tell that to the TWA 800 victims.

No, you tell them. When you tell them, tell them TWA 800 happend under Clinton's watch and he didn't do a damn thing about it. One attack happens under Bush's watch, and this country and it's allies are doing something about that, which includes taking care of all the ignorance and neglect that ran rampant under the Clinton regime.

"Tell that to the TWA 800 victims."

Not his pervue. I suppose you were one of those loudly wondering why Ridge wasn't doing his "job" over a year before his job existed?

DA MAN is not always participating in a coverup. Graphite is brittle. I have never thought it a good choice of structural materiel for aircraft.

Great choice!

He is capable, experienced, and knowledgeable.

He also has the hard edged big time personality necessary to tackle this position.

I predicted some time back that if it wasn't Rudy, it would be Kerik.

Just heard on CBS radio news (paraphrasing) "Washington insiders question whether Kerik has enough management experience for this position." Yep. They'll find plenty to complain about. It's all they know how to do.

Bernie Keriks bio

I'd say he is just about the perfect choice to head Homeland Security. The perfect combination of balls and brains.
