Looks like the Iraqi assassination squads have a few targets.

This smells like BS. No one in their right mind would pay £1600 a month to hire a cook as a soldier in a country where wages are next to nothing.

I've heard that a Tomahawk missile can trigger an explosion like that.

Syria's current "leadership elite" are members of a brand of Islam
that incorporates Jewish and Christian elements.
Most Sunni do not consider them Moslem.

I believe that during the reign of the elder Assad
the clerics in Syria officially delcared the Alawis to be Moslems.

The Alawis of Syria originally were Kurds
who practised a pre-Islamic Kurdish religion
that later was 'Islamisized' as one of many Shiite subsects.
Yes, there also are Jewish and Christian elements in the Alawi faith.
The Alawi Kurds eventually assimilated into Arab culture.

They closely are related to the little known but very large Alevi sect in Turkey,
who, though primarily Kurds, do include many ethnic Turks.

There also are Alevi Kurds in Iraq as well as Jewish Kurds.

Life in the Middle East is very complicated.

The Americans are all Jews and unbelievers," said Abdullah.

Wrong on two counts, Abdullah, m'man - I am not a Jew, and I do believe we're going to kick your butt up between your ears.

My heart bleeds...They might as well be in OZ. They'd better be really careful. Someone might drop something worse than a house on them.
