"Let's load the Statue of Liberty on a barge with a sign 'Shove It Up your French Butthole'. Drop it at the foot of the Eiffel Tower! ..And I'm sure our Canadian friends to the north would help us load it, in turn for some cargo containers to box up the French scum in 'Cuc Caa P. of Q. to ship along with it."

You mean both of them???

Amidst growing criticism from the EU to conform, it has been reported that the French will change their flag so as to further distance themselves from their pesky Eurotrash neighbors. They decided to go with something more indicative of their national character.....

Welcome to FR, tomorrow.
No, it does NOT follow that if the french were not trying to backstab the USA, it would be someone else.
The french, like their Canadian and African whores, are unique in that respect.
They blythely assume the USA is much too rational to lower ourselves to retaliate in kind.
They forget the "F" factor, and that the USA created the "F" concept.
The french are soooo "F"ed, and the funny part is, they are totally clueless about how thoroughly and permanently they are "F"ed.
And how little anyone else really cares.

'When is Bush going to let free all the info on France and Food for Oil, and their pre-war "diplomacy" against us? He kept it quiet before letting Kerry's francophilism score points.'

Chirac, Pasqua and Annan should all serve long prison sentences. France has used industrial espionage to obtain sensitive/classified information from U.S. defense contractors which has, along with healthy bribes, rob us of $80 billion in foreign military sales (Kenneth Timmerman, The French Betrayal of America). Now that Chirac has lost his cheap source of Iraqi oil and Saddam is no longer spending millions for French weaponry, France could find themselves in in deep economic doo doo.

France's biggest problem is their inability to accept their total irrelevance in world affairs.

Precisely! And what is also very ironic is that if they were in our shoes they would absolutely revel in it.

If I, like Robert Novak, had stayed only in only 5-star hotels, and I ate only at the finest restaurants, and I had a chaffered limo drive me everywhere so I would not have to walk the streets rubbing shoulders with the common people, and most important, the people knew me because I was an American big-shot news reporter, then yes I would probably give these people a favorable review. After all, everyone I met, was paid and expected to treat me like royalty, so how I write anything negative?

America-bashing wouldn't work if it didn't fit French notions about themselves and the world.

It does, and it does.

Watched Canadian news last night (the miracle of cable) and they were interviewing Americans who were leaving the US to move north. It included a kind of town hall meeting with Canadians and Americans. The Canadian superiority was thick, but understandable considering the topic. The Americans were mostly Kerry supporters and they were doing the most irrational of the America-bashing, unsurprisingly. They didn't seem to know much about Canada, but they were sure it was better than fascist Jesusland.

They mentioned that about 5000 Americans move north each year, and 11000 Canadians move south. I kept expecting them to include some Canadian transplants in the discussion, for balance, but it didn't happen.

Anyway, French America-bashing is infantile, but they got nothing on the average American Dem. At least when the French do it, they do it with the cutest accent.

I dunno. If Sarkozy wins (and is indeed pro U.S.), it could mean a lot more relevance for France in world affairs...
